FD, Further to the above observations yesterday, I had problems again this morning & could not get access for several hours. It would seem, something is going on? Btw, when the site can finally be accessed, it's like a switch gets flicked & all is then ok, until the next time. If any other members have been having problems getting onto this site, PLEASE ADVISE! |

No problem here.

Sometimes when I encounter things like that I clear all history from my browser and that cures it!

Yeah, good thought! However, just by co-incidence, I already did that earlier this week, so there's not that much there, now. And, it seems to be working again now, without the slowness in accessing. |

Steel cap boots, hard hat, hi vis shirt or vest, safety glasses.
That's usually the minimum for getting access to the site. |

I think I had a similar problem on the weekend. I checked it out on pingdom and the site was still up and working reasonably quickly, so it was something to do with my web access. I think other sites may have also been inaccessible, but the problem went away before I could figure it out.
If it happens again, get a response time from pingdom.com. If it scores less than 80% (ie "faster than 80% of sites tested"), it is probably a site problem. Otherwise, the problem is somewhere else. We have a thread somewhere for posting pingdom results. |

It has to be all about the NBN and water in the telecom thingies. Just ask George, he knows. ::) Actually, I have never had a problem, possibly due to the fact that I do not dwell on this Forum as my main source of entertainment or contact with the outside world. Not that being addicted to a Forum is a problem .... ditto homosexuality ...... it IS a choice thing. ;) Pingdom? https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/pingdom/id298055896?mt=8 |

And just as you'd expect, Murphy strikes. I have been trying to log in for the last 77 minutes unsuccessfully. When I finally made it, I went straight to that 'ping' thing.....the site came up, as did the url for here, but when I hit 'test,' a text came up saying it could not be linked. :-? |
Title: Re: Problems getting access to site Post by Aussie on Feb 20th, 2014 at 9:46am
I should add FD.......the same thing at PA. Thought I'd try that as well, and sure enough, could not get there. As with here, that usual timed out long message comes up.
In that case, it must be a server thing as it was only here and there I could not access ~ there were a zillion other places I had no problem accessing. |

ONLY a KNOB would continually click on a Forum URL for 77 MINUTES and note the time they finally made it through. Haven't you got a lawn to mow or a cab to drive or something? Honestly ...... some people seem to be so bloody dependent on a Forum/Board that they have withdrawal symptoms when they cannot immediately get access. GET A smacking LIFE. |

The 'ping' just worked. "Perf Grade" 80/100, "Requests" 98, Load Time" 2.67s, "Page Size" 499.5kb.

I tried a few times - it looks like the forum was down for about 1.5 hours. From about 3.10pm to now 4.56pm. Must be a DOS attack. |

What is that, and is a human involved in said attack, or is it a technical issue? |
Title: Re: Problems getting access to site Post by mantra on Feb 20th, 2014 at 10:07am
I tried to access the site a few times today, but it wasn't loading. Maybe the site gets too busy and a timeout period occurs?
The clock is certainly wrong. This post was typed at 5.07 pm. |

Aussie,
Have you heard of the term "having a lend of you"? You are sooooooooo naive as far as computers and computing is concerned. Even Cods knows more than you do. ROFLMAO PS Sorry Cods. ;D |

ROFLMAO. Yet another person who has to have a moan and whine because they can't automatically click on a FORUM. Did you, also, lose several minutes of your precious time because you could NOT connect to OzPol? >:( Did you try connecting to the ABC site to make sure it wasn't your computer? Or then did you sit and stare at the monitor and continue to click on the OzPol URL for 77 minutes like Aussie did or did you just go shopping, or watch Foxtel or something? PATHETIC. Whining about a Forum that you can't access for a bit. Leftards NEED to Get a LIFE. |
Title: Re: Problems getting access to site Post by Neferti on Feb 20th, 2014 at 10:32am
THIS IS A FORUM. It is not real life. If you can't log in, you will NOT die, your hair will not fall out. You won't starve to death!
TRY a little patience. Oh, and Tony Abbott had nothing to do with it. You bunch of useless donkeys. |

Neferti - this is the feedback forum. The Global Moderator - who started this thread, is trying to find out if there's a problem with the actual site or the server. No-one is whinging - just giving their input. FEEDBACK.....Information about reactions to a product, a person's performance of a task, etc. which is used as a basis for improvement. |

I've only just managed to get a post up after trying since somewhere between 1 and 2 pm AEST. :D :D :D Could be right re: junction box. The one out the front of my place is smashed. Dopey former neighbour kept driving his car over it 'till I had a short, sharp chat with him. Leaning on a pick handle might have had something to do with his change in driving habits. Getting Telstra out to repair/replace it is a whole different story.... ;) |
