Title: What Abbott said to Ford workers
Post by Frances on Feb 20th, 2014 at 12:38pm

Quote:
Speaking on Melbourne radio after a visit to the Ford motor plant in Geelong Abbott waxed lyrical: "It's an iconic Australian plant. It's been opened since 1925 ad it's one of the many major Australian manufacturers which would be at risk under a carbon tax.

It was not at risk under a carbon tax, but certainly at risk under an Abbott government.

He then went on—and remember this was prior to the election—to say: 'I think any government which makes it harder to manufacture cars is making it harder for us to continue to be a First World economy because without cars, without steel, without aluminium, without cement, we don't have these manufacturers in Australia, we are not really a sophisticated economy any more.'

So, this is what the Prime Minister, that then Leader of the Opposition, said to Ford workers prior to the election.

The message to all car manufacturing workers was: 'You have got nothing to fear under the coalition'

Your link says he said that in 2011.

Ford decided to cease building cars in 2013 when labor were in charge yet this does not stop dopey labor supporters from blaming Tony.

Opposition leader Tony Abbott says the carbon tax is among the causes of Ford's decision to cease manufacturing in Australianews.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/carbon-tax-hit-ford-abbott-20130523-2k2v7.html

Tony was the opposition leader when Ford decided to quit making cars in Australia, it was reported in the leftist paper the Sydney morning herald.

Of course this fact does not stop the ignorant crusted on labor and Green supporters from blaming Tony.

Why would you give corporate handouts to a company that is quitting?

Ford pulled the pin on making cars when Labor and the greens were running the country into the ground.

What alternate universe did this occur in?

Because it sure didn't happen in this one.

Look around you (with open eyes and mind), and you'll
soon see who's running the country into the ground.

Hint: It's not Labor, and it's not the Greens.

People here love playing the blame game.

It really doesn't matter who is responsible.

The sadness is for the workers and their families, losing their income and facing a very uncertain future.

I feel for them. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Ford made the decision to close under labor/Greens rule that is a fact reported in leftist newspapers.

Are you still on welfare Pete?
