Title: The ALP has destroyed manufacturing in this countr
Post by Innocent bystander on Feb 21st, 2014 at 3:35am
The ALP has destroyed manufacturing in this country

Mr Shorten says 1,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost every month since Mr Abbott has been in power. There is no official data to support this claim, as figures for most of the period have not been published. In any case, many of the workers Mr Shorten is referring to will not officially leave their jobs for at least another year.

Yet under the ALP's watch manufacturing jobs were being lost at the rate of 1800 per month  :o

Just have a look at this graph, says it all, the ALP has destroyed manufacturing in this country.

We are still (unfortunately) working under Labor's disastrous industrial relations regime, we are still suffering under Labor's carbon tax we were promised we'd never get and the mining tax that failed to raise any revenue in its first six months - all policies that are detrimental to business and investment in this country and all from Labor...

you can actually see where Rudderless threw hundreds of Billions of Tax payer dollars into lame worthless schemes creating short term worthless jobs...

then after that, the big crash came along with the Labor/Green Carbon Tax...

well, the geentard/labrats will get what they've been wanting... less electricity use...

they'll get it by manufacturing closing down all over Australia and everyone going onto unemployment... they have achieved this in 6 short years and we are still spiralling down to the bottom of the barrel ...

the worst government in the history of Australia...  >:(

How many jobs were lost as a direct result of botched stimulus programs under Labor? The insulation scheme, the solar panels scheme, the school halls scheme? We know thousands lost their jobs in the disastrous solar scheme and long-time family businesses shut down because of the botched insulation scheme that cost four young men their lives. Labor are simply incompetent. What more can you say... what more needs to be said than that?

I notice you didn't produce the video that you referenced and you clearly don't understand the graph you posted. However I can understand how feeble minded people could be convinced that one government is far better than the others by reading that graph in isolation. If you apply reality to that graph labor comes out on top marginally. This is reflected by the
the constant switching in government in Australia. All that a side still one job every 3 minutes under the new government so a further dip. You presented nothing to contradict this statement..
You constant aggressive and abusive tones suggests that you have probably been shot in the head with a ball of your own poo.

I think it was alleged ALP luminary PJ Keating who wanted to rid Australia of the 'smokestack industries' and base the economy on services and tourism. If that was the philosophy adopted by the 'enlightened and progressive' ALP, and by extension the ALP's whore, the unions, why do the unions bleat so much now? Did the unions complain to Keating when he changed the direction of the 'progressive and enlightened' ALP?

Sorry? Who is in Government at the moment numbnuts?

Speaking of propaganda, you just did  exactly that which you accuse the ALP of, I am thinking that may make you a propagoose....

Here is the problem though laid out clearly. BOTH sides do this garbage to avoid actually doing what they're elected to do, i.e. represent out interests here and abroad.

Whilst any person refuses point blank to recognise and address the flaws in their preferred team this country will continue to careen along in reverse gear.

Both teams have had a go at wrecking the joint. Oh, both teams and the high end of town (usually foreign owned by the by) have had their go at wrecking the joint, and their fawning sycophant supporters are the enablers whilst the rest of the world pretty much shakes its head and has a chuckle (also at our expense). It is a deserved chuckle though because, quite simply put, we are stupid...

I'd have to agree that the chart is virtually meaningless without other data. It appears that the OP either doesn't understand the chart or is deliberately relying on others not understanding in an attempt to pull a fast one over them.

To the casual eye it looks disastrous. However, when the chart is compared to the actual quantity of manufactured outputs it becomes a little clearer.

What is revealing is that manufactured outputs have mostly flatlined for over a decade. The result of poor productivity growth for this period. There is a slight upswing just before 2008 with employment tracking the same. Since the two lines do not diverge, productivity has not improved at this time. Along comes a global meltdown and both decline. This is were it gets more interesting. Post about mid 2009 you will see that manufactured output, both domestically and exports have increased while employment decreased. This can only be explained by a small turnaround in productivity. Don't get excited, it is very meagre, only about 4% over 5 years. Way below the inflation rate and simply not good enough.

Yeah, businesses are going to make a decision in a couple of months to close. These sorts of decisions are made over many months, if not years. Labor's carbon tax and disastrous changes to IR laws made operating in Australia a prohibitively expensive proposition for many large and small businesses.

Exactly, due to checks and balances put in place by none other than Peter Costello, our banks and financial institutions were largely immune from the financial crisis that plagued the US and Europe.

Reality is, both parties killed the manufacturing sector, Labor Shot it in the chest and the liberals are now chopping off body parts off....

What we need ASAP is to back down from free trade agreements and to rise tariffs back up to once again make it affordable to manufacture in Australia.

Apart from throwing away tax payers money by the billions - hundreds of BILLIONS - they've never had one good idea...

They always had BIG VISIONS of Australia...

Australia with jobs and industries, wealth beyond belief etc etc etc

Unfortunate only delivered misery... accept for the illegal boat people... they delivered them a life of not ever having to lift a finger again...

And every time yet another Labor/green policy failed they started throwing out red herrings...

Oh lets talk about the GAYS and gay marriage...

Oh, lets start calling the Liberals sexist and misogynist....

And the Australian media lapped it up instead of taking this most useless government in Australia's history to task and shredding it for its failing and useless policies that were destroying Australia...  >:(

You mean the graph which shown a slight downturn during about the worst economic downturn in a century that clearly indicates a better than expected result in the conditions ????

The graph that shows strong employment in poor conditions - that graph - the one that you interpret incorrectly.

Twice as many jobs went in 6 years compared to 4 months ????

The Libs are on schedule to catch up by about May ????

Even the conservative hating ABC agrees with me that Shorten is full of sh*t and nearly twice as many manufacturing jobs went under labor than the coalition ... suck it up losers  ;D

You're funny can't read a graph or listen properly either bill shorten is bell end and over stated how bad the libs are doing comparison to the alp. He defiantly was cherry picking. But job losses double under alp is something you made up. Not in any of the links  you put up.

Look I know its your sworn duty as idiot lefties to defend knuckleheads and I also understand that you must still defend knuckleheads even when it is quite patently obvious they are WRONG as in the case of Shorten.
Anyway have fun with that, I'm not wasting any more time talking to you thickheads.  ;D
