For all we know, the profile generated by our internet activity may be used to spontaneously generate an illusion of a real living sandbox. In short, the entire thing could be a single player game, manipulated to fit into a bigger picture. Something that might otherwise take meticulous planning, may be programmed to occur spontaneously using quantum computers that have already been developed.
