That problem is back big time, freediver. No link is necessary. Look at Politicians Suck.

From FD's comments I think they dont have a solution so you might have to live with it!!

Aussie, in order to deal with this problem, I need to keep track of it. I cannot do that if you start a new thread every time you come across it. Please make a post in the existing thread with a link to the thread that has the problem. There is no need to be a drama queen about it by starting a new thread, and if you cannot be bothered posting a link, don't bother reporting it at all.

Ya see, therein lies the problem. It is endemic FD.....and if every time it happened, not just to me, but with everyone else, you'd be overwhelmed. Why can't you just look at popular Threads in PS.......and you would see it immediately? It's like what we put up with in Cabs, with a decaying despatch system. Initially, we reported every occasion there is evidence.............and nothing happened........we persisted.............and nothing happened.......etc etc etc.....and we gave up..............because nothing happened. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by bobbythebat1 on Feb 27th, 2014 at 8:03pm
Here is an example where 5 posts were required to make the page flip:
http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1392452584/390 The problem is in the software & would require an expert programmer of YaBB 2.5.2 with the source code to fix it. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Feb 28th, 2014 at 8:24am
It is not a source code problem. It is a server problem. The hosts have made changes to reduce the incidence of the problem in the past.

I find that hard to believe. It sounds like a panadol was given when an operation was required. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Feb 28th, 2014 at 12:17pm
They need to allocate more "resources" to the site. My understanding is that they are allocating more of one particular type of resource than they typically would in order to solve the problem, because this site uses that particular resource in a way that does not overload the server. They are hesitant to do this, so I think they are only making a small increase at a time.

This is just a clever way for our handlers to buy enough time to cross reference our percieved realities, when we approach a critical mass of uncovering the real truth; while they program in the solutions to keep us in the dark, under the cover of a technical error. ::)

Ok - I did a Google search & couldn't find any other site having the same problem. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Feb 28th, 2014 at 7:22pm
The YaBB developers would know about it if it was a code issue. It also does not make sense for a code issue to be intermittent.
|
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by bobbythebat1 on Feb 28th, 2014 at 7:41pm freediver wrote on Feb 28th, 2014 at 7:22pm:
It's not really intermittent- it happens every time on the 911 thread. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Feb 28th, 2014 at 7:51pm
It happens once. The evidence remains. It does not "happen" again every time you notice it.

Is that some sort of voodoo spin language to the effect that there is only one problem, but it manifests itself all over the busiest Threads a 'zillion' times? |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Feb 28th, 2014 at 7:59pm
It happens once for every incidence of the thread post count being offset by 1.
|
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by Aussie on Feb 28th, 2014 at 8:06pm freediver wrote on Feb 28th, 2014 at 7:59pm:
More voodoo. It happens in the busiest Threads and no one needs to know about off sets by 1 or 2 even. I'd just like to see it not happen here at all, like it does not happen anywhere else I post at, or have posted at. |

Every time any page reaches 14 posts on the 911 thread it takes 5 posts to flip the page. |

I am going to try again with Google to research the problem. Maybe I can find an answer. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by Cliff48 on Mar 1st, 2014 at 9:30am
I have been waiting to experience the problem so that I could test an idea, but unfortunately it hasn't arisen when I have been around:
On the boards indexes clicking a topic title will switch the posts sequence between 'most recent' and 'oldest'. Does clicking this have the same result (forcing the page flip) as using a 'bump'? |

hilarious... as a matter of fact reading the rubbish boards I am thinking its the computer saying ENOUGH ALREADY...I cant stand this... $%&^.. sorry perc.. :'( have you seen the amount of personal abuse on pol/sux...its getting worse since they lost...hummmmm you lost..so slow to turn the page is not a bad thing..even computers may have a sensitive side who knows. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Mar 2nd, 2014 at 11:05am
I have asked people for help in managing this problem. Is that unreasonable?

Title: Re: Page flip. Post by Winston Smith on Mar 2nd, 2014 at 3:14pm
I've seen this issue on other YaBB boards, it's probably an anomaly caused by the data collection techniques of spy agencies. EVERYTHING gets saved now, for your future blackmail and prosecution.

Title: Re: Page flip. Post by Kat on Mar 2nd, 2014 at 8:50pm
I can't believe it!!!
I just posted a comment, which turned out to be the first to appear on a new page. And it actually appeared!!! Instantly. No 'bumping'. No numbers, no swearing one letter at a time. It just worked. First time for months. EDIT: And now the same thing's happened here. Problem fixed, or am I just lucky? |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Mar 2nd, 2014 at 9:28pm
Very unlucky I think. I hardly ever see this problem.

All I can find are forums where someone can join up & report the bug e.g. http://www.carsten-dalgaard.dk/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=TroubleBugs/0 It seems that no other YaBB forum in the world experiences this problem of pages not flipping. |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by Oh_Yeah on Mar 3rd, 2014 at 10:53am
The page on the Change in Diet thread in the Chat forum hasn't flipped

It has now flipped. Took about 10 minutes and no "bumping" was required. It looks like just a case of being a bit patient |
Title: Re: Page flip. Post by freediver on Mar 3rd, 2014 at 7:20pm
That seems to be the same problem. Please post reports in the dedicated sticky thread.

Title: Re: Page flip. Post by cods on Mar 13th, 2014 at 8:34am
page sticking getting worse..
I now notice a post doesnt show up on the front page either....as well as not showing on the thread...... getting weirder... |

Yes - it took 7 posts to flip the page here: http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1394245178/435 There is nothing we can do about it. I searched for a solution everywhere on the internet. |

Title: Re: Page flip. Post by mantra on Mar 13th, 2014 at 10:05am
I haven't noticed it lately. Do other things in between posts - then come back and it probably would have flipped by then.

Title: Re: Page flip. Post by cods on Mar 13th, 2014 at 11:29am
its also taking longer to change the screen...it seems to only be ozpol.. as everything else seems fine..so everything is slllllllllllowing down.
we really shouldnt have to go and do something else whilst waiting for something to happen on the computer do you think mantra???...strewth the net is 25 years old today... it wasnt that slow 25 years ago. |

Title: Re: Page flip. Post by Neferti on Mar 13th, 2014 at 3:16pm
It is so funny to see grown people get so frustrated just because their post hasn't appeared immediately!
It is not as though your so-called "wise words" have disappeared, what you posted is there, just sitting in cyberspace, having a bit of a rest. ;) Truly people. If Freediver knew how to fix it, he would do so. Obviously some bug or other to do with the YaBB software. Perhaps it was upgraded recently? Same sort of thing happens with various programs that you "upgrade", some upgrades cause more faults than what the "upgrade" was supposed to fix. That's Life! :D |
