Title: Vote Marriage Equality Candidates Today
Post by Greens_Win on Mar 15th, 2014 at 6:37am

The Modern Family stars who play gay couple Mitch and Cam have issued a timely reminder to Australians that the world is waiting for us to pass marriage equality.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c86Rwym7oQI

In a video released by Australian Marriage Equality and filmed at our beautiful Great Barrier Reef, actors Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet are astonished that Australia wouldn’t allow their respective characters Mitchell Pritchett and Cameron Tucker to marry.

Croome notes that this weekend’s elections in South Australia and Tasmania provide an opportunity for marriage equality to vote for candidates who support the reform across all parties.

“In recent days, pro-marriage equality Liberal and National Party candidates have joined Labor and Green candidates who already support the reform,” he explains.

“This is reminder that marriage equality is not a left/right issue, and it provides voters across the political spectrum with an opportunity to vote for the reform.

“From State Elections to one of the world’s most popular TV shows, the momentum for marriage equality will only continue to grow as we wait for the Prime Minister to grant a free vote to his Party.”

Are you saying that gays aren't real and therefore no political party should try to give them some rights?

Gays mightn't be part of our world as we traditionally know it, but they deserve a voice. Remember it used to be illegal to be gay? I haven't seen the show - and will probably never see it, but if it has a sizeable audience, then it's having some appeal to the masses.

Aside from the Greens - what other party is prepared to offer gays equality?

There is already marriage equality - those who are entitled to marry may do so - those who are not may not.

Pretty simple....

Now gimme some screeching of 'homophobe' etc.  Any discussion of homosexuality etc is not worth the internet it's written on without some good old-fashioned slagging...

I don't believe their "astonishment".

If they were to travel to any country in the world at random, there'd be a 9/10 chance gay marriage wouldn't be allowed there.  So really, they should be more "astonished" if it was allowed.

Anyways, the time for this nonsense has passed.

I haven't said whether gay marriage is right or wrong. Obviously a majority rule stops it happening in Australia. Gays, regardless of them being a minority are still part of our society though. They're not imposing their lifestyle on anyone. You have to wonder why people feel threatened by gay marriage, considering heterosexual marriage is generally a farce when you take into account the statistics of it being successful for the long term.

The success rate or otherwise of modern marriage - as dictated by politically correct movements over the past thirty years in concert with every other move to break down our society and create chaos and disorder in order to facilitate the takeover of Socio-fascist sentiments from both 'sides' - has nothing to do with it.

Propaganda aside - marriage is for the formation of the natural family - of man and woman - that is how it was designed and how it has been for countless years.  All other arguments are irrelevant, and no modifying of the word 'family' through propaganda on television shows can alter that.

I'm sorry if that sounds 'conservative' or whatever to anyone - I am simply stating the facts.

Marriage is what it is - that is all there is to it - and any other group can seek to either alter it by popular consent or choose another way of uniting in a bond.

Even the simple fact that the term 'gay marriage' is uses separates it from Marriage... and frankly - I doubt anyone much really cares apart from those interested - most have enough to deal with in their own lives, and like feminism - it is long past time for these things to just STFU and leave the rest of us alone without dragging us all into some pointless argument over something in which we have no interest.

This art of generating 'issues' and shoving them at everyone else has got to stop - and maybe it stops with funding such nonsense in academic circles.

Marriage equality is just a fig leaf issue so the Greens can look all progressive when in fact they are conservative. Dealing with Abbott to bring in an unaffordable PPL scheme that values some babies more than most is just the first betrayal of the progressive cause.

I think people that love each other should be able to have the relationship recognised. Why not?

That's the wrong question. Gay or straight, stupid or not, it should be their choice. Mine has been great, 30 years in April, although I acknowledge the success rate is not good over all.

Well - I've already stated that since the concept of gay marriage does not produce harm - then there is no real reason to refuse it - and frankly I couldn't give a rat's one way or the other.

Happiness is hard enough to find in this dark world, and if some can find it with a marriage - then all power to them.

On the Greens - you are so right - it is sickening to see the prurient self-interest shown by politicians when it comes down to it - and how anyone can say that one baby - of an already well-off couple - is better in dollar terms than the child of a poor and single mother is beyond me.

Shows clearly what these people really mean - they are the overlords - the rest are scum.

THAT is why we need to get rid of the lot of them.

You are correct Andrei - it is only 'entertainment' and should never be taken seriously in terms of social issues.

FCS - did anyone take Fantasy Island as being a real thing?

It's ENTERTAINMENT - like watching Rambo kill 5000 Filipinos with the arsebone of a Jew - and if it makes you think about an issue - that's a bonus.

"Not a brilliant night for the Greens, mind. The party’s vote has dipped by 8%, only slightly less than Labor’s loss."

Another election with a drop in the vote woody?

It's understandable Tasmanians were duped by the conservatives. Promised the world and then ... the reality sets in afterwards that the promises will not be filled. Look how much polls have crashed for federal conservatives because Abbott has procrastination since.

Party hard cons until the three year hangover kicks in.

Greens are not opposed to logging, just logging old growth forests.

The only reason cons want to destroy old growth forests is because plantation forests are not a sustainable business.

Tas cons should be ashamed of themselves for trying to prop up failing businesses when federally, cons they let them crash.

State cons are a disgrace to the con cause.

Or maybe taswegians have finally realised the living in a rust-belt welfare state prolly isn't doing them  much good.

Or they wanted to be like Queensland mostly free (except for one useless idiot) lying scumbag greens selling out the environment for cheap votes.

Or the greens talked a big game but failed to acheive the competence of the ball boy

There will be thousands of reasons why the greens got told to p1ss off, each one as valid as the next.

If that was true then why the diff between S.A and Tas. More likely the reason is the grass is greener syndrome and soon the reality will kick in that the new government is not meeting the expectations.

Remember cons promised a soon booming economy with full employment and no state debt.

One thing to promise the world, another to deliver.
