Saw Monuments Men yesterday.  Based on a true story the movie should have been great, a group of highly qualified men sent to rescue the art treasures of Europe from the Nazis during the Allied Invasion.

It had all the ingredients needed to be a great 'hunt down' movie but for some strange reason I thought it was somewhat flat.

Very hard to put your finger on it and say that was the reason.

I thought the only time, it got going, was at the climax but I won't give that away.

Three out of five stars, should have been better given the subject material.

Was looking at that in the paper today and wondered if it was worthwhile.  We have two free tickets to the movies so should we use them?

I'm really looking forward to seeing it. My husband and I recently saw Last Vegas and Wolf Creek 2 as a double feature at the drive in. It's hard to say which was worse.

drive in? they still have a drive in? where do you live?

On the Gold Coast. The drive in is at Yatala. It's pretty cool - we also saw American Hustle there. They run every night starting at 7pm and there are three screens with 2 movies each.

What killed the Drive In off?  Used to be immensely popular 'back in the day.'

Hi Annie, how much is it to get in the drive in these days?

Hoyts prices are insane these days! Their candy prices are in outer space. Fortunately in the Blue Mountains we have an independant multi cinema The Edge and they walk all over Hoyts.

Red, we paid $34 for two tickets to watch two movies. There are 3 screens and you can move between fields for the second movie, but it can be tricky because you're not allowed to use your headlights.

True Blue - just you, I think. The drive in does allow more privacy, though, which is always good. You can talk without disturbing other patrons. We take supplies - it's great being able to whip out some gorgonzola and not have to worry about other people feeling ill from the smell.

Greg - just a plain old Mazda.

Aussie - I have no idea. I remember seeing ET at the drive in as a kid. A great memory. The one at Yatala doesn't seem to be in any danger of going out of business anytime soon though. It's ideally situated between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and has been packed whenever we've gone.

Fantastic, and more power to its elbow.  The 'Drive In' offered so much for so many.  Yer could bring yer own tucker (grog) hide some bodies in the boot, or on the floor, behave very badly and annoy no-one else....and even watch a movie if you really wanted to!

Wot's more....on the usual weekly Wednesday 'Western Night,' as a kid, yer got to play 'Cowboys and Indians' with real horses during the pre-movie entertainment. 

As a licensed to drive teenager.........well.....a whole new World opened up!

we got booted out of the Warrnambool Drive In doing that...   :-[

so we went back to the Terang Drive In and watched the Three Musketeers and their "Sexual" adventures.. rofl...  ;D
