Title: Christian Nutter Wrecks ALP Campaign
Post by True Colours on Apr 5th, 2014 at 5:23pm
LABOR Senator Louise Pratt has attempted to gracefully defuse a controversy over whether or not she’s a lesbian after it was revealed that her Labor running mate Joe Bullock questioned her sexual orientation..

...Mr Bullock, a right-wing union leader who stole the number one spot from Senator Pratt, told a Christian group last November that working people were right not to trust Labor and questioned Kevin Rudd’s religious views because “he’d change his mind over a cup of coffee’’.

HE’S the man who talked Tony Abbott into becoming a member of the Liberal Party...

...Mr Abbott is among the critics, even though he and Mr Bullock were close political partners as students at Sydney University more than 30 years ago.

The pair had been considering a takeover of the Sydney University Labor Club, but Mr Bullock said the Liberal opponents were a better target...

"...the Liberal Club was a dreadful bunch of dilettantes and social climbers. And there were not many of them."

“So I said: ‘Let’s knock off the Liberal Club’. But Tony was really reluctant. ‘Oh, no, I don’t want to join the Liberal’.

“He made it clear his loyalties were to Labor. Eventually, I persuaded him against his better judgment to join.”...

In a speech to a Christian group, the Dawson Society last November, available on its website, Bullock said people like him and the Christian audience he was addressing needed to be involved in the Labor party because “the buggers might win..."

Apparently this Christian nutter holds views not too dissimilar to main stream Islam regarding homosexuality and possibly also birth control and abortion ... so what sort of points are you trying to win here TC?

Quote:
And he said: “The time is coming where faith needs to be protected from politics … the anti-discrimination movement is forcing religious belief into the four walls of a church. I am conscience of the movement for homosexual marriage and what that could mean for Catholic schools, where homosexuality could be required to be advocated as a moral equivalent to heterosexual marriage, I am concerned Catholic hospitals could be forced to recommend abortions … this is politics invading freedom of religion … freedom of religions is the freedom to practice your religion and that means taking your beliefs out of your church and living them in your life.”

He said it was a “good question” to consider how he should vote on a foreign aid budget that was in part spent on birth control services that included abortion, and he would need to consider his view.

He said it was “remarkable” that those advocating same-sex marriage had “claimed the moral high ground” and advised the audience: “We need to fight back.”

Incorrect. Islam does not hold such strict views on birth control. In fact, most forms of contraception are held to be permissible by Muslims, and abortion is also considered permissible in certain circumstances.

The idea of criminalising mothers who perform early-term abortions is an extremist-Christian idea not an Islamic one.

So I'm incorrect so far as early term abortion goes ... what about other forms of birth control and homosexuality?

Abbott's pic was missing on Liberal advertising at polling places ... even the libs know he's a jonah.

I didn't think Abbott had much of an impact at all on this campaign to say he wrecked  it for Labor is an interesting opinion.
