Those inconsiderate fans with the loud whistles who confuse players into checking the referee are annoying and unsportsmanlike.

Chile 2 Australia 1. :o
Onya Timmy! :) |
Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Dame Pansi on Jun 14th, 2014 at 8:48am Half time. Chile 2 Socceroos 1....it's not a bad game, I just hope Chile don't get out of second gear. |
Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Winston Smith on Jun 14th, 2014 at 8:51am
The score holds at half time and Australia have recovered well.
|
Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Dame Pansi on Jun 14th, 2014 at 8:59am I'm looking forward to an even better second half from the Socceroos. A two all draw would be fantastic. A three two win for us would be even better. |

I think it's entirely possible that the Socceroos will equalise. They tend to rise to the challenge when seemingly down and out. It's their strength as well as their weakness, as they tend not to be able to switch gear strategically in order to consolidate those gains made in adversity. It's what makes the Socceroos a true wild card side and always interesting to watch. |

A couple of good opportunities for Australia, now is a good time to tune in.

Another close one for Australia to equalise.

Bresciano should have taken the shot..

If not for Aussie Rules and Rugby Leage, Australia could be a significant force in world football.

Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Winston Smith on Jun 14th, 2014 at 9:37am
Australia needs to score soon one would think.

Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Winston Smith on Jun 14th, 2014 at 9:50am
Chile 3 Australia 1 in extra time. Well played Australia, almost got it.

Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Dame Pansi on Jun 14th, 2014 at 9:50am
Oh damn!!!!!!....now the Chilean coach seems happy.
|
Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Dame Pansi on Jun 14th, 2014 at 9:54am I thought it was a good game, the only problem is that Australia played at 100% of their capabilities and Chile only used maybe 50% of theirs. |
Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Winston Smith on Jun 14th, 2014 at 9:56am
Pardon my political incorrectness, but the wog caricatures they turn out on SBS.. ;D

I missed the first half, but the aussies played some great football in the second half ... they can hold their heads up
unlucky to not have scored at least another goal ... |

The American team was more cunning, they sat back and let Australia break themselves on attack from early on. The thing about Australia is that they always have a chance to break through and they almost routed Chile in the 2nd half. |

We lost. :'(

Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Andrei.Hicks on Jun 14th, 2014 at 9:59am
I watched it on BBC.
Australia played well. I'm going to Amsterdam on Monday. Hopefully we can beat the Italians tomorrow or I will not have much to say to the rampant Dutch! Australia did alright though. Our TV analysts have heaped praise on the Aussies and we'd be far less biased. |

It was an epic match, the Socceroos came to within a hairs breadth of overrunning their opponents. |

Title: Re: Chile v Australia Post by Andrei.Hicks on Jun 14th, 2014 at 10:05am
I dunno about epic winston.
I agree with Gordon Strachan in the BBC studio. Australia got in Chiles faces and unsettled them. The Aussies lacked the bit of quality up front to cross the ball when it mattered. They gave it everything though. The fact everyone was off the bench when Chile scored the third shows how relieved they were. Epic? That was the Dutch tonight! |

To quote my colleague in Milan, the first game is always the best time to play them. Notorious poor starters and that's an ageing squad they've brought. I think it will be a draw. |

It'll be a good game I just figured I'd better get in while I can ....... if Italy loses I'm never going to hear the end of it. |

I can't argue with that, it was surreal. The Socceroos almost utterly destroyed Chile. If they had equalised they would have run amock. |

Brazil were poor. As were Spain.
As long as Argentina don't win, I'm ok. |
