Title: the World's Cheapest Commodity?
Post by Emma Peel on Jul 19th, 2014 at 8:22pm
well it is apparent .....the cheapest commodity on this planet is human beings..our lives are as nothing to the powers of prejudice hatred greed

The cheapest commodity on this earth is the individual human being... in numbers too numerous to mention...  we die and die and die,, and ... profits are made, and territory is gained , and people die.. and die.

indeed... human life requires such that the fewer the better.

or  .. we could try to give up Coca Cola and Fast foods and flying overseas for holidays, and try eating home grown food,  holidaying at home  and being very aware of every resource we use daily... but lets face it...

thats not going to happen...  at least not until WE are lining up for our ration of food,  water, and bedding, etc...

and once again... being realistic..  that will be TOO LATE people.

many of us do .. but many more of us choose to ignore reality.

Human life has never been cheaper than now...  an infinitely replaceable resource...  given our fecundity.
WE,  here in OZ,  just happen to be among the fortunate born in better circumstances than most of the people of the world.

In no way does that make us superior...  it makes us lucky..

and I get so sick of hearing the dialogues of hatred and ignorance that is so pronounced by the 'haves'...

is there a better world..??
well perhaps if humans represented an equivalent population to other top end predators.  As it is.. we kill everything....
lest we be killed.. and that especially applies to other human beings..

how sad is that..??

yah  a whole lot less...

as it is .. we are a plague.. an uncontained cancerous mass that seems likely to destroy everything.. in the long run.. unless something comes along to curtail our psychopathy.

Mother has thrown lots at us.. we  remain.    For now. :(

So we should remove some of our population, the righties say we should turn the ME to glass.

peace to you brother..

Well  I remember when I was young...  ( Matt Taylor)
....... the Earth went round the SUN
and I was happy....

could you perhaps explain to me what you mean...  ??

All flesh is grass ... where do righties fit in?...
we are all culpable... regardless of our politics.
Politics is the veneer we throw over our savagery.. it is an attempt to control what is essentially uncontrollable..  for popular consumption.

We also use to wonder about the Earth and how it moved around the sun so snappy. Imagination run wild makes a very backward child they told me. Used to watch them down at the White Sands(Scarborough, Perth) when I was younger.

We are undoubtedly still savages, not convinced on the plague. I hope not, plagues tend to run their course then disappear.

yeah well how about a very adaptive VIRUS..rather than the plague.

like the FLU.

It is true, as you say Setanta  ..like Ebola.. which is likely too virulent to spread very far in its current form... 'cos it is too efficient at killing it's hosts... altho it still may, in fact likely will, adapt. .

But... we are just beginning to see the rise of potential pandemics that would decimate the population, and remember.. just like humans... virus is compelled to adapt and conquer.

Bacteria .. the most common form of life on earth...  are also mounting a comeback...

Mother will keep on trying.. and she will win. :)

NO MERCY

seems to me we have all acquired the hubris ....  we have the belief in species superiority...  when in fact no such comparisons are valid...
we put ourselves outside .....  but

Might does not equal right. A lesson we haven't learned yet.

If we are like a virus, then like viruses, that's nature. Where we differ is that we are sentient. How much that matters in the scheme of life(nature/universe) is yet to be decided.

I DON'T MEAN TO SPEAK IN ABSOLUTES.
the world exists  ..we exist...  We believe
..sentience = good...

But we also KNOW
sentience = pyschopathy

  a double-edged sword...

both are visible to us everyday.. but seems  psychos are winning hands down ...

There is a paradox to do with resources that says: THE MORE EFFICIENTLY WE LEARN TO USE A RESOURCE THE MORE OF IT WE USE.

This is called Jevons Paradox- but,... who said it only applies to fossil fuels?

- NOW THAT is worth thinking about imho  :o :o :o :o  :D

Title: Re: the World's Cheapest Commodity?

Dear Emma, couple the Jevons paradox with Bill Gates idea about automation where he said automation will increase the efficiency of an 'efficient process' but will likewise increase the inefficiency of an 'inefficient process' and we are back to the start of the industrial revolution...

-  us voting consumers have been fed hollywood ideas and cheap electronica comfort thru preferential trade deals(!..as Judith Sloane herself calls them..!)  :o :o and the idea of productivity and what is and is not efficient has to raise it's head at some point...

Lastly: nothing grows exponentially  ;) i.e. life is sinusodial !!

'Imagination run wild makes a very backward child they told me.'

- this would speak directly, imho, of the idea that humanity has come so far due to its acceptance of the so called mentally ill as they have the potential to still contribute great and useful ideas.

This is also a possible..
unless you happen to be Putin... for example.

Now there is an example of a psychopath reaching the absolute pinnacle of his goal in life... and playing that... and it'll take the whole world, more or less,   to say  NO WIN.

No, unfortunately I haven't.   I'll put it on my list :)

And on unlikely names, I always thought Edward Woodward had to be a 'made up' name, but it is his real name.

Sinusoidal goes up and down: exponential only goes one way..pyramid scheme is someone elses lingo: try last nail or bobby or possibly anyone but me   8-)

I suppose pyramid scheme refers to long term sinusoidal: it's a joke of a world and ya gotta be careful because the tidal wave of money involved changes circumstances quickly- potentially!

--> hence socialist ideas to smooth the economic cycles...

Automation is why mums and dads got out of investing in the stockmarket, for instance: THIS ITSELF MUST HAVE CONSEQUENCES AND HISTORY WILL BE WRITTEN BY IT... imho atleast   8-) 8-)

HOW MUCH,  ::) I dunno, but it plays a significant part I would say: just saying!

Quote:
The 1904 Reach Guide reported on this first official "World's Championship Series," (played in 1903) using a name first coined in 1886 by the Spalding (of athletic equipment fame) Base Ball Guide in reference to the post-season game between Chicago and St. Louis. Spalding's editor noted that since both teams were already "champions of the United States" in their respective leagues, the winner of the post-season games would be "world" champions, hence the "World's Championship Series." Spalding's continued to refer to post-season games by this name, adding that as other nations embraced baseball, their winning teams would participate in the playoffs, turning the "World's Championship Series" into a reality.

you get the drift ..well done..

maybe when we had slavery but even then the slaves cost more than Commodities.. in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, mens wages were far lower than their counterparts in the US and treated much worst and in the early days worker would be staved and forced to work in the name of the state but even then.. i guess during slavery and in socialist states humans value were lower but far from the cheapest Commodity..

COOL: it's pretty old stuff but some of it is cool as i reckon! That style of art is apparently called 'suprematism'...

Art- It's all a cartoon i read somewhere so i have been just looking at what i want to look at as of late...

my nephw is a prolific artist.. I'd love to share his work with other people... on this forum.. who might be interested .. but

Art..  well.. it is  ...very individualistic...

and these works,  by Hena ......are worthy.. I'm just not sure if I can share them..... or how to do so.. I have literally hundreds of images .. a life's work..
and I truly think he's only beginning.. even though he is in his 40's ..

where does this sort of drive to produce expressions of Life come from..?  I mean  .. I dabble  .. But to him..?  it is his life long commitment,  and any money not necessary for life support goes towards canvases and paint etc..
altho lately he has been going tech.

Is it the need to try to record what is always ephemeral..?
Elusive and unknowable..?  the human psyche??

Perhaps I'll send this to him .. sometime.
