Title: They hate us for our road rules
Post by Honky on Sep 19th, 2014 at 8:10pm
Those dastardly moslems are at it again.

Quote:
A group of drivers is regularly speeding, drink driving and parking anywhere they want to and legally getting away with it.

They are foreign diplomats claiming diplomatic immunity and now 7News can reveal which embassies ignore our road rules the most.

Run a red light, park illegally, drink drive or speed and you risk being punished to the full extent of the law. But not if you're a foreign diplomat.

Drivers from dozens of foreign embassies are breaking road rules - even drink driving and doing burnouts.

Legal experts say the law is powerless to charge them, because of their ‘diplomatic immunity’.

Dr Jacqueline Mowbray, of the University of Sydney Law School, said: “The job of the diplomat is to represent their own country and they can't do that fearlessly and independently if they're subject to any pressure in any form from Australian authorities.”

When they are fined, many refuse to pay. In just one year, the Saudi Arabian embassy ignored 108 tickets worth almost $24,000.

Followed by Russia, with 49 fines, Jordan with 22 fines, Libya with 21 fines and Kuwait with18 fines

The total for all embassies: $118,000.

Nobody at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Canberra would tell 7News why such a wealthy country would refuse to pay its fines.

Federal Police documents reveal how some diplomats flout the law. One refused a breath test even though police reported the driver

Another was speeding and talking on a mobile phone. When pulled over, he gave the officer the finger and told him police ‘couldn't touch him’.

Peter Khoury, of the NRMA, said: “There are options available to the Australian Government about what should be done in those cases and some of it could mean it might better if some of those people are sent home."

I'm sure it's a mere coincidence that this shocking revelation is made at a time when the drums of war are beating louder and louder.

Ah yes, all those Muslims drink driving....?

Lol, the thought of an international diplomat doing burnouts though is pretty funny.

I hate us for our road rules. I hate us as fellow drivers too. You all suck! ;D

Edit: Honestly, that's true. I would rather walk if it's close enough, a mile or two, than get on the road with you lot. :-/

Only community outreach barbies must be reported at such times.

See what happens to a foreigner if they are involved in a crash with a local or a woman if she is caught driving in Saudi Arabia and you'll see that the Saudis are no better than the IS nutbags currently cutting a swathe through the Middle East.

We shouldnt be letting any Saudis into this country until they get rid of their draconian laws and ditch their violent dictatorship for a democratically elected govt..

In other diversity news, Australian soldiers are advised to be cautious about wearing uniform on Australian streets because there are enemies hiding among their people.

So what happens if they commit a more serious crime?

Say ...hit & run or a accident causing death?

or murder?

Nothing unless their country gives them up. Can’prosecute them, according to the Vienna Convention. If not extradited by their country, you can expel them. That’t it.

Well it's time to start expelling these errant diplomats...

post haste.

If we have zero tolerance for speeding, drink driving, using mobile phones whilst driving etc. for Aussie citizens then foreign diplomats should be the same & the punishment expulsion.

And if "expulsion" is decried by said offending countries ..... then shut up, put up & pay your smacking fines.

I blame the Geneva Convention.

Typical.
