Title: Is the software on this forum stuffed?
Post by Redneck on Sep 20th, 2014 at 9:41am
Is it only me or are the replies to topics that display about three posts behind the most recent reply.

Especially on that Raghead topic

What I mean is if you click on the "last post arrow" it displays a prior post from a different user

Anyone else experiencing this?

Especially on that Raghead Topic

Read all of this 5 page thread:

http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1366968207/60#60

It is well known about & there is no solution other than
making extra posts till the page flips.

No - just keep making extra posts till the page flips.

Also to see the last post that is invisible:

Click on the name of the person who posted &
view their last 5 posts.

You can then click "quote" & reply to them.

Unfortunately - you can't delete your posts unless you're a moderator.

Maybe FD could add that feature to ordinary members.

It took 14 posts to make it flip.

It took 5 posts for the next page:

Interesting bit of useless information I have just discovered.

If you log off the forum, you can then click on and see the last post!

It might have something to do with your computer's clock.

I've never tried this, but if you set your computer's clock to a time in the past, say the year 2012, you might get some weird results. The software probably assumes that everyone's clock is set to the current time. Obviously some people will be several minutes ahead or several minutes behind.

That might be a clue for Freediver.

I cannot reproduce this. Can you give me more details?

If it gets too annoying, start a new thread. You can ask a mod to lock the old thread. Post links back and forth so people get it.

The questions that need to be answered:
* How does the forum count the number of posts in a topic?
* Does it do so consistently? (Answer is likely to be NO)

The forum was (and probably still is) using two different methods to count the number of posts in a topic and under some circumstances these methods return different results.

Method 1 (produces short counts)
* Calculation of Pagination
* "Replies" column

Method 2 (reliable)
* "Reply No" at the top of each post

There may be other places not listed.

If the "Reply No" code was copied to the other places (preferably by coding as a common function), the problem should be fixed.

You'd have to be the person or team that wrote the code in order to fix it.

It also has something to do with the server being overloaded with too many posts at once.

Not behaving the same today FD

I have put a post in the Ragheads topic and it shows me as the latest poster.12:29pm today

If I click on Latest post arrow it doesnt show my post it shows Longweekends 10:51pm yesterday post

If I log off  and then click on the lastest post supposedly by me it shows a later post by TrueBlue yesterday 11:46pm

Yesterday when I logged off it would show my latest post

Weird Eh?

My unopened PM count is fixed again.

Just start a new thread. Let us know here so one of the mods can close the old one. Post links back and forth on both threads.
