So much for being an advocate for universal rights.

I'm uncomfortable with this.
they aren't exactly shining pillars of ethics and morality (slush fund jules, eddie obeid, peter taxi voucher slipper, ute gate turnbull, wedding flights libbos and call girl thommo).
the idea that they can get my information does not sit well.
I'd rather woolworths and google had these powers. they seem more ethical (and that's saying something)

I can not recall ever seeing a situation that could be abused that wasn't and just assuming that the legislation being flawed is ok because you can trust that it will be ok and not get abused is ludicrous.

Legislation that has the potential to be misused is poor legislation which should be blocked.

Taking away my privacy is no laughing matter, watching George Brandis trying to explain why was extremely funny.

Collateral damage.....If in the event that innocent victims are hurt or killed by police in a terrorist raid, it is now a crime for these matters to be released to the public.

So if the police raid the wrong Abdullah's house and shoot the wrong Abdullah, the media will not be able to report on it.....another version of 'operational matters'.

Will Brandis be able to stop social media from reporting such matters?

Anyone releasing the truth would be subject to the same penalty - that is the whistle blowers part.

You release any information the government do not want released and you could be penalised in this manner.

It is a blank cheque for the government to do what ever they like with impunity.

theres something about brandis that I cant put my finger on, but I wouldn't buy a used car from the guy.
I wouldn't buy one from Bill either.
surprisingly , I would buy one from tony.
he seems more up front .
I would probably go to Albo though, he seems to have street cred.

I agree with Bill Brandis and Albo but not too sure about Tony, I'd put him down as a maybe. I see something a bit creepy there.

End of the day the right car at the right price and I don't care who is selling.

Brandis Destroys Your Privacy

They ignored all the criticism and have opted to implement 100% of the security agency wish list. Very dangerous.

how many lies does it take before you understadn that he is a liar? ... the fact that he seemed so genuine while lying makes it worse.

Things will only get worse.

Although, I do see a positive eventually coming out of this - an end of the internet as we know it and a complete eradication of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

I guess, just sit back and watch while munching on the popcorn.

Probably get worried when Tony starts appearing on TV wearing camo gear.

They are not eradicating Facebook. Facebook is already censoring. They will keep it running, censored, for the dumb sheeple. ;) Also, Facebook gives the ASIO great insight into what people are thinking and doing.
