The gender card gets played when somebody is treated as a lesser person because of their gender. Responding to that and saying ‘That’s wrong’ — that’s not playing the gender card.” The former Labor Prime Minister compared the treatment of gender to that of race, citing the example of Sydney Swans player and Australian of the Year Adam Goodes, who has stood up against racism. “We have all said ‘Good on you, you should raise that. That is unacceptable’.” “Why don’t we take the same response with gender? “No one would say to Adam Goodes, ‘Gee, you played the race card didn’t you mate’. People would say ‘You did the right thing’. “I’d like our culture to be you’re doing the right thing if you are standing up against sexism.” she would not have a clue..... not a clue... what gender bias is she referring too???? that comes anywhere near what real racism is like?>???? what a wimp shes proved to be...shallow and weak..for the life of me I cannot see Julie Bishop using the gender card.... when you are in HIGH OFFICE Julia you have to grow a pair..its called guts and a thick skin... get over yourself. |

Guts and a thick skin? cods you would have lasted 10 seconds under the workload and pressure Julia handled with grace and aplomb.
Monkey? Will collapse at the first sign of difficulty. |

A VERY GOOD POINT - that shows we are making some way with RACIAL EQUALITY - but that GENDER EQUALITY still has further to go I do find it EXTRORDINARY, at times, that SOME WOMEN are the GREATEST opponents of gender equality ... sometimes, "women ARE their own worst enemies" |

I heard on the radio this morning that her book has had the price cut from $49 to $24 before it even hit the stores.
Also that Ch 9 was it? decided to shorten her interview by half an hour. Guess nobody wants to hear from Julia anymore. I certainly don't. |

I paid $29.95 for mine late last week, others paid more.
Chains like Colesworth buy bulk supplies and sell them at lower rates, that is what that news item was talking about. I am not surprised you don’t want to hear from FPMJG—the contrast with the monkey now sitting in the big chair is not kind to monkey is it? Broken promises number in the hundreds, the lies and sheer bulk incompetence don’t bear comparison to Gillard who handled much bigger challenges—within and outside the ALP—with grace and aplomb, charm and humor and never, ever ran away from a press conference. |

I'm curious as to why she should stop whinging.
You lot certainly haven't, then again anything to distract from our current train wreck I suppose. |

It must anger you no end that many of us think Tony is doing just fine.
It's a good job it's a free country isn't it. |

Doing fine? Some budget bills still not introduced to HoR five months after the Budget!
Deficit more than doubled, unemployment now over 6%. He is even behind in the polls despite ISIS/Muslim baiting etc. Only a one–eyed fanboi can say he is doing fine. |

Well that will depends on what we "HAVE to SACRIFICE" to remain free. Classic doublespeak. Does it anger me? No it was a choice between a sh!t sandwich & a bog on a roll. But no Bogie you are welcome to think PM Abbott is doing a good job just as I think PM Gillard was the last great reforming/social justice PM. Just so I'm clear at exactly what point will PM Abbott & his Merry men become responsible for anything? Because so far it seems good news Tony Yeah, bad news Labors fault. |

Gender bias. Yeah, the ALP knows ALL about that, what with their ridiculous quota. They manage to piss everyone off with it - the women for insinuating that women can only get a job thanks to a quota instead of merit and the men because even though they may be vastly more qualified for a given job, they won't get it because it has to go to a woman to meet the quota. Talk about two birds with one stone!!! ;D ;D ;D |

You place WAY too much weight on the word of right wing shock-jocks Julia Gillard’s memoirs fly off the shelves 27 Sep 2014 Her publisher, Penguin Random House, is thrilled by the early success of the biggest political blockbuster since John Howard’s Lazarus Rising, reporting sales of more than 5000 copies on the first day the book went on sale, and that book retail chain Dymocks had sold almost 10 per cent of its entire order on the first day. Like Ms Clinton, Ms Gillard’s publishers have snubbed the usual route of old white male politicians who give first exclusive extracts of their books to the mainstream press, followed by a “true believers” launch in Parliament House or back in the old electorate. While Ms Clinton chose Vogue magazine to publish exclusive extracts of her book, Hard Choices, Ms Gillard gave a preview interview to Channel Nine’s Ray Martin. Social researcher Hugh Mackay said Ms Gillard’s story had now become a broader mainstream “human tragedy” story rather than a political memoir. With a female protagonist rising to the highest political office and then falling with dignity, Ms Gillard’s memoirs are also selling to young women – the target of the booming “young adult” market that has spawned the Twilight and Hunger Games behemoths. Mr Mackay, whose own book The Art of Belonging will be released next week, said the book’s early success could be attributed to curiosity about how Ms Gillard coped with a poisonous political atmosphere and the public’s ambivalence about her place in history. “I think we wanted to be more positive about her when she was prime minister than we actually were,” he said. “She was obviously a tough cookie and she had a couple of wins in her first few weeks so our expectations were very, very high, especially among women.” While sales of Ms Clinton’s book have proved disappointing, Mr Mackay said he expected Ms Gillard to remain on the best seller list for some months. “In the US they are more accustomed to women in senior positions of power,” he said. http://www.afr.com/p/national/julia_gillard_memoirs_fly_off_the_QZfcYb8ileR7tBnil0TBkO |

On the FIRST DAY of sale, or did you miss that bit? Even taking into account the fact that many these days would only be interested if it was an e-book, that's pretty bloody good for a political memoir. Especially one written by someone who apparently 'no-one wants to hear'... :P |

All said good on you? No one would say he played the race card? The overall majority of people on this forum thought he was a little cry baby that needs to harden up. The fact he became Australian of the year because of it made it even worse. Outside of the PC media world and aboriginal bleeding hearts he is considered a limp dick. |

My view is simple - the gender card is played for personal advantage and is a vastly over-used thing in this and other western countries, to our everlasting detriment.
Women have all Rights men have and some extra privileges, they have a plague of extra programs just for them, they work 31 hours average to men's 42 = the 78% cited as a 'wage gap' (for shaitan's sake), they get preference in employment, education, housing, welfare and medical treatment, they are presumed to be 'better' at some work such as clerical, banking, nursing and so forth and occupy those jobs in numbers, they still demand and get extra privileges to get them into the other work if the odd one wants to actually be a carpenter or so forth, they cop the lioness' share in divorce because of the false 'primary caregiver' concept, and they pretty much have it pretty damned easy, and generally do the easy work. There is no gender card where I work or where most of you work... other than perhaps the occasional tizz thrown by some female staff member who does not understand that the word Team does not contain an I. I think it's way past time, in this country struggling to stay afloat for the many, to stop whining and demanding whenever some little girlie doesn't get the job she thinks she deserves.. (welcome to the real world where most of us don't)... |

More the pity she doesn't have the good grace to pull her head in at least until the Coalition has fixed the mess she left behind before Labor was thrown out in it's worst electoral defeat in 100 years.
She's only fit for landfill, and when she speaks I only hear white noise. |

The only whinging I'm seeing or hearing is almost exclusively coming from the far Right.
So, we can safely disregard it as being nothing but the BS it is. As the post prior to this one clearly demonstrates. |

LABOR powerbroker Stephen Conroy failed to turn up to his own ALP preselection, appearing instead via Skype in what one witness said was like a scene from animated TV series Futurama. Relying on a former staffer to hold an iPad in the air, Senator Conroy was beamed in from the US to urge delegates to pick him as their candidate. If elected, he has a guaranteed salary of more than $1.2 million from taxpayers over the six-year term. But the architect of Labor’s National Broadband Network struggled to get a decent connection and his Skype connection dropped out. “Now I’ve seen everything mate. It was like Futurama, the man in the bubble,’’ the witness said. The bizarre scenes were sparked the Victorian ALP’s decision to bring forward preselections, partly to dodge affirmative action rules that would demand more women are preselected to Parliament. But some Labor insiders suggest Mr Conroy went beyond the call of duty by even bothering to use Skype, because the factional deals in place ensured his preselection to another six-year term. hahaha poor old Conroy afraid of the 40% women mantra so much for gillard and gender bias.... everywhere but with labor cohorts. why isnt she screaming UNFAIR CONROY.... pity she is never asked about slippers comments... >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( he was safely under her wing after all.. The NBN Co board is racing to hide and obfuscate the successful Melton roll out which makes FTTH 40% cheaper—cheaper than FTTN when the costs of the copper get factored in. Maybe we should ask JG back in 2016 to fix the Lib’s HUGE mess? |
