A VERY GOOD POINT - that shows we are making some way with RACIAL EQUALITY - but that GENDER EQUALITY still has further to go


I do find it EXTRORDINARY, at times, that SOME WOMEN  are the GREATEST opponents of gender equality

Also that Ch 9 was it? decided to shorten her interview by half an hour.

Guess nobody wants to hear from Julia anymore.

I am not surprised you don’t want to hear from FPMJG—the contrast with the monkey now sitting in the big chair is not kind to monkey is it? Her publisher, Penguin Random House, is thrilled by the early success of the biggest political blockbuster since John Howard’s Lazarus Rising, reporting sales of more than 5000 copies on the first day the book went on sale, and that book retail chain Dymocks had sold almost 10 per cent of its entire order on the first day.

Like Ms Clinton, Ms Gillard’s publishers have snubbed the usual route of old white male politicians who give first exclusive extracts of their books to the mainstream press, followed by a “true believers” launch in Parliament House or back in the old electorate.

While Ms Clinton chose Vogue magazine to publish exclusive extracts of her book, Hard Choices, Ms Gillard gave a preview interview to Channel Nine’s Ray Martin.

Social researcher Hugh Mackay said Ms Gillard’s story had now become a broader mainstream “human tragedy” story rather than a political memoir.

With a female protagonist rising to the highest political office and then falling with dignity, Ms Gillard’s memoirs are also selling to young women – the target of the booming “young adult” market that has spawned the Twilight and Hunger Games behemoths. Mr Mackay, whose own book The Art of Belonging will be released next week, said the book’s early success could be attributed to curiosity about how Ms Gillard coped with a poisonous political atmosphere and the ­public’s ambivalence about her place in history.

“I think we wanted to be more ­positive about her when she was prime minister than we actually were,” he said.

“She was obviously a tough cookie and she had a couple of wins in her first few weeks so our expectations were very, very high, especially among women.”

While sales of Ms Clinton’s book have proved disappointing, Mr Mackay said he expected Ms Gillard to remain on the best seller list for some months.

“In the US they are more accustomed to women in senior positions of power,” he said.

All said good on you? No one would say he played the race card? The overall majority of people on this forum thought he was a little cry baby that needs to harden up. The fact he became Australian of the year because of it made it even worse. Outside of the PC media world and aboriginal bleeding hearts he is considered a limp dick.

My view is simple - the gender card is played for personal advantage and is a vastly over-used thing in this and other western countries, to our everlasting detriment.

Women have all Rights men have and some extra privileges, they have a plague of extra programs just for them, they work 31 hours average to men's 42 = the 78% cited as a 'wage gap' (for shaitan's sake), they get preference in employment, education, housing, welfare and medical treatment, they are presumed to be 'better' at some work such as clerical, banking, nursing and so forth and occupy those jobs in numbers, they still demand and get extra privileges to get them into the other work if the odd one wants to actually be a carpenter or so forth,they cop the lioness' share in divorce because of the false 'primary caregiver' concept, and they pretty much have it pretty damned easy, and generally do the easy work.

There is no gender card where I work or where most of you work... other than perhaps the occasional tizz thrown by some female staff member who does not understand that the word Team does not contain an I.

I think it's way past time, in this country struggling to stay afloat for the many, to stop whining and demanding whenever some little girlie doesn't get the job she thinks she deserves.. (welcome to the real world where most of us don't)...

Umm monkey, Hokey and the shambles have more than doubled the deficit and the Budget is in tatters. Unemployment is over 6%, science & R&D is at its lowest in 30 years!

The NBN Co board is racing to hide and obfuscate the successful Melton roll out which makes FTTH 40% cheaper—cheaper than FTTN when the costs of the copper get factored in.

Maybe we should ask JG back in 2016 to fix the Lib’s HUGE mess?
