This has nothing whatsoever to do with politics.

The Howard government were close to these Hillsong parishioners and several of their senior members attended some of their services. What happened behind the scenes that we don't know about? |

so you are suggesting something.. you have some evidence of course... do you actually ask someone what church if any they belong too before speaking to them??.. Howard govt close to these Hillsong parishioners..its sounds almost sinister...and how you know this is of course amazing. |

Howard was also close to Exclusive Brethren and who knows what they got up too? As long as they voted for him Howard didn’t ask questions!

I suppose that it is the risk taken when any politician supports any group of religious nutters or extremists. |

Yes - I'm suggesting that Armhair was being too hasty to assert that it had nothing to do with politics. Quote:
Howard and Costello (among other Liberals) attended Hillsong services and made no secret of their links to this church. That doesn't mean though that these Liberals knew what other members of this church were up to. I don't believe in guilt by association, unlike some of the rightards on the forum. Quote:
It was in the news and the media a while ago, and it had plenty of coverage. Your personal ignorance is not evidence that it didn't happen. You can call it "sinister" if you like, but that's your interpretation, not mine. It also doesn't mean they curry the favour of Liberals only. Some Labor politicians have also been associated with this church, such as Bob Carr. Shining the light on Hillsong (Crikey, 2/5/06) Costello soaks up Hillsong's praise (The Age, 5/7/05) Three Liberals: Louise Markus (Member for Greenway, NSW), Alexander Downer, Peter Costello. |
