After the heady days of 2007 (some would say frothy days), when climate change was the Greatest Moral Challenge, where is this heading now?

The young and the forever young will still be marching in the streets from time to time, but mainly because they enjoy banging drums and shaking things, while the majority it seems to me are not interested that much any more.

The carbon tax is gone and Shorten has committed Labor to not bringing it back. But can anybody commit Labor to anything?
The RET may or may not be altered. The Warburton report wants to change it but the govt may decide to sidestep that and tinker at the edges a bit.

We started off with Kevin Rudd having a frenetic episode over it all - wonderful wonderful Copenhagen etc, which gradually withered away under Gillard to a situation of "don't mention climate change".

How do people feel about all that and where do you think it's going?

Australia will catch up with the rest of the world soon. Climate change isn't just what is happening in Australia. The rest of the world is taking action as well, and they are doing a lot more than Australia.

For example, China's actions are necessitated by their need to reduce air pollution. Pollution in Beijing can be particularly bad, and much of it comes from the burning of fossil fuels.

It's not a problem that will go away just because the debate has been suppressed in Australia for political reasons.

China dammed three valleys to gain Hydro power, it also now produces the CO2 turbine (Australian development handed over at Copenhagen).

The LNP have banned Hydro from being clean green energy!

The LNP have banned the CO2 turbine.

The LNP wants schools to dumb down Australian children so Coal again has a cheap work force !

Co2 by itself does stuff all. Its everything that the failed models predict it does as a secondary (causing more water vapour ect), that is of debate.

Yes, and this is why CFC's were phased out of things like refrigerators and air conditioning units. Don't need a tax to make a difference!

This pollution is mainly caused by the burning of fossil fuels. You don't need to take sides in the climate change debate to acknowledge that the burning of fossil fuels can cause other problems.

So is food a requirement for all humans, but you don't want to spend a lifetime eating too much of it.

If you're going to try to sound authoritative, at least try to spell the name of the compound correctly. It is case sensitive and "Co" is COBALT. (A subscript on the "2" would also be good.)

Our comrades in China are forcing the Abbott mob to act on AGW with their tax on Australian coal.
China knows the glaciers that feed theirs and India's main rivers are shrinking. Because everything is connected, the cons will be forced to act properly.

As the cons are trying to attack the alp via attacking unions, their Achilles heel is revenue from coal. Without coal funding, how will the cons afford advertising at elections.

Yes, and this is why CFC's were phased out of things like refrigerators and air conditioning units. Don't need a tax to make a difference!

There is an alternative to using CFC's in refrigeration.....The Abbott Government is scaling down the alternative to burning coal.....A price on carbon is considered by most economists to be the most effective way to reduce emissions.....Direct action is going to cost billions of dollars that the taxpayer will pay instead of the polluters.....Either way CO2 is a greenhouse gas which was my point not the mechanism to reduce its use!!!

The Greenhouse effect is the whole debate which correlates directly to the use of CO2, which is a Greenhouse gas.....Can you post a link citing where CO2 does stuff all???

You obviously have no idea what coal miners earn.

And by dumbing down the kids, I can only assume you are talking about revising the curriculum.
Anybody with any sense - and I believe the polls show this is 65% of the people - knows that a curriculum revision is aimed at "dumbing up" the kids by concentrating more on the basic building blocks of education.

I can only assume, since you rarely explain anything, that by the "wonderful history of Abbott" you are referring to the history of western civilisation.
You have a problem with western civilisation? After all, it is the history which has led to a greater & greater proportion of the world's population being lifted out of poverty.

Labour pushed saved the world whilst Australians developed the means.

Labour upon receiving that means went into save the Coal mines motion.

LNP are backing Labour and Greg Hunt joins Labour in concealment of gifted green energy technology.

China made public its thank you and respect for the Australian development in Carbon Capture.

The people haven't turned away from the problem, they have just tuned out to Governments bullshit.

LNP makes denial it about saving the business of burning Coal.

To allow Australian technology to supply cheap green electricity at half the price of Coal Black is not the thing LNP allow for it knows the power Coal advertising at election time.

The LNP has even taken Coal into its Government name so it don't think the LNP is anything but than for Coal.

Man made climate change was debunked a fair while ago now yet people on here still believe in it. And even worse those who think paying a tax would help... roflmao.. I guess as they say, some mothers do have them.

The LNP did, but is having a major struggle with renaming it "Direct Action", due to the High Court, and back benchers not wishing to commit contempt against the High Court. Ruling 1953, Ansett versus the Commonwealth!
