Title: Re: Tim Andrews AND Protest in Brisbane Post by Dame Pansi on Nov 13th, 2014 at 6:12am Is this the image we want Australia to show the world? Yes it is. We want to show the world that social justice matters. We want to show the world that we care about our most disadvantaged citizens and that we are prepared to fight for them because they have no voice. We want to show the world that we care enough about future generations to demand climate change actions from our government. We want to show the world that we are not all sheeple's prepared to be led to the slaughterhouse by the powers to be. What would the rest of the world make of us if we didn't voice our concerns at a G20 Summit? |

Protesting (and Petitions) are a form of Politics.
Only ART truly defeats Politics in its 'own way'. |

Who's we? Perhaps you should stop holidaying in Asia and spent your money on the needy. |

We are the people who bother to get off their bums and fight for a fair go for the disadvantaged. Holidaying in Asia and giving to the needy? Why can't I do both? I give directly to the needy when I see them on the street, both here and in Asia, no middle men getting my hard earned dollars. Now I will go and protest to my government to do their fair share of giving. Wish me luck and a safe return. |

The problem is when you put social justice in front of freedoms and liberty, you term to get more disadvantaged society. Capitalism has created a society which has less disadvantaged people in history, no other socialist system has been able to do that. Socialism isn't the answer, it has shown every time it's been tried to create more disadvantaged people. |

Freedom and liberty is not an inherent part of capitalism. Indeed history has shown that the opposite is true. This is the lie that capitalists have tried to pedal for decades now. If you want genuine freedom and a genuine role in deciding how your life is run you need to agitate for a true democracy; a direct democracy. Not this BS democracy that is capitalist corporate oligarchy that has taken over the western world and progressively turning our communities into an authoritarian police state run for the benefit of the wealthy few. Capitalism is just an economic system that will gladly destroy democracy when it interferes with profits. This is the respect for freedom shown by capitalism in the congo when "the natives" failed to bring in their quota of rubber. As always capitalists now days like to distort their ugly past, every bit as bad as any fascist totalitarian system and probably worse. After all it gave us the slave trade and that's just the tip of the iceburg. |

Freedom and liberty is an inherent part of capitalism, the problem socialist say is capitalism provides too much freedom that its basically anarchy and therefor enable the smart and the elite to take advantage of others, Freedom and liberty is an inherent part of capitalism, its a fact acknowledgement by socialist and communist alike. This is why people living in the west has alway had economic freedoms (the freedom to chose their product free from anyone intervene or force) highest in the world and in socialist state the lowest. Ill give you an example, In capitalism People are free from state or business intervention to buy any product they want, already we fail at this most basic capitalist principle, our government forces us to buy products for the good of others, and ban products for the good of big business, thats socialism not capitalism, just have a look at any socialist state in history. Also direct democracy is impossible with a nation with a population of 22 million for example, thats a fact. And you confusing capitalism with imperialism, Soviets slave workers, would too be punished and even killed when they didnt live up to the quota. The force labor of workers excited before capitalism, and was used far into the 20th century by every socialist state even when just about every capitalist state ban such actions. "Labourers had to work in freezing climates, unhygienic conditions, dangerous circumstances and worked for extensive time periods without rest. Many prisoners were able to perform the forced labour necessary but a large number of prisoners were too hungry, sick, or injured from the intense working conditions to complete the labour. Often prisoners were punished for not reaching targets by getting fewer rations of food than those who did reach production targets; thereby it was not unlikely for prisoners to die of starvation." these actions are due to governmental systems and domestic and foreign policy not because of capitalism or socialism. |
