Title: Welcome gum chewing lame duck Obama
Post by red baron on Nov 15th, 2014 at 8:14am
What a piece of work Barack Obama has turned out to be.

At the Asian conference last week he wandered onto the boardwalk chewing away on gum. The Chinese news services pilloried him for his lack of respect and rightly so.

Now this lame duck President who has lost control of the lower house and the Senate in the U.S.A. is here.

His opinion isn't worth a plug nickel and he is merely serving out his last two years as an impotent President with no real power.

His performance as President has been gut wrenchingly poor and he has failed miserably in his office.

Nicotine gum, Red. He gave up smoking and got hooked on the gum.

I’m the same.In many ways, it’s more addictive than tobacco.

But what’s wrong with chewing gum at a conference or in meetings? I do that all the time too.

Obama is not being "pilloried" because he’s weak and ineffective. He’s being chastened by the Chinese for being the most powerful man in the world, and a rival to Chinese ambitions. His opinion is worth enough to get an emissions deal with the Chows.

While this deal is not yet a deal (and not supported by the US Congress)  it’s the most important economic decision made in years. Other countries will follow. The targets are ambitious and significant.

No one else has even attempted a deal like this. It’s historic, and it will have an impact on the world.

A president’s "performance" is measured by the long-term effectiveness of their domestic policies, their success in war, and the strength of the US economy.

I’m not sure how Obama’s done, but it’s been a tough few years for what is essentially an empire in decline.

What does a president ever do? It's a system!!

Obama failed in his fight with the gun Lobby and America continues to preside over shooting tragedies particularly at their schools.

Obama also failed to sort out their health system in a Country where if you are poor and get sick, you're f.....d!

Obama has seriously weakened the strength of the U.S. Armed Forces and his responses to world crises has been piss weak on many occasions. Hopefully the Republicans will restore this imbalance because the World absolutely needs a strong and resolute U.S.A. even if you don't like them the alternative like I.S.I.S.is to terrible to contemplate.

The World will remember Obama as a Left Wing President who weakened the U.S.A.'s position as the dominant Country in the world.

Thanks, Light. I gave up once before but got back on the ciggies. One day, I’ll take up your suggestion.

I ingest a lot more nano toxins than what’s in the pharma gum.

Freewill, you see?

As a footnote, in the recent Senate Elections in the U.S.A. many of the Democrat Candidates specifically requested that Obama 'NOT'  come and speak in their electorates.

Obama is electoral poison there now and even in his heartland, the blacks have turned their backs on him.

Read 'F' for failure.

Play it by ear: Obama stuns Aung San Suu Kyi with kiss

This is a proof that Obama is not a Gay.

All true, but if you think Obama has weakened the US military, you’re nuts. There are more US bases now than there ever have been before. Obama put one in Darwin. There is a bigger US military presence in the world than there ever has been before, including Reagan’s time in office.

Obama has been nothing less than a Hawk. He ramped up the drone program despite fierce criticism, he kept Guantanamo Bay, and he expanded foreign and domestic espionage. He gave the order to kill Bin Laden. He has presided over the biggest surveillance system the world has ever known, and he passed laws to do this.

No Republican president would get away with what Obama has without huge opposition. Obama’s wavering over Syria/Iraq is largely a response to domestic pressure. Americans want nothing to do with more Middle Eastern wars, and they still reject what Bush got the US into.

The big military issue in the world today is China’s expansion in the Pacific. No US president will tackle this without serious problems. Talking tough is a ludicrous way to deal with face-saving China, who have the biggest army in the world.

I do not come to praise Obama, but to bury him. Obama is one of the biggest hawks in recent history, but he’s not a rooster. He’s acted with stealth. On his masthead domestic policies, he’s been stymied by paid up interest groups.

Sadly, with his soft on.domestic policy but hard on security stance, only the latter has paid off.

Obama’s been the best Republican president they’ll ever have.

I read what you say Karnal but what about this from the Washington Examiner?

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a leading 2016 GOP presidential contender, on Wednesday ripped President Obama’s military spending and troop cuts, charging that he has “failed the first test of leadership as commander-in-chief.”

In a forceful speech during which he called for increased spending on key weaponry and a new vision for U.S. military power, Rubio said that the president’s budgetary withering of the Pentagon over six years “borders on the frightening.”

Speaking to veterans and military policy experts in Washington, Rubio presented a plan to revive the military’s doctrine with three key objectives:

• Don't sit back. Be first to repel U.S. and global enemies like the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. “Conflict breeds economic disruption,” he said.

• Fight for world freedom, as former President Ronald Reagan did in taking on communism. “It means being unabashed in our support for the spread of economic and political freedom.”

Report: Obama urged to get more nukes, stop acting like war is 'unthinkable'

BY PAUL BEDARD | 11/13/14 5:04 PM

A report urges President Obama to expand the U.S. nuclear arsenal amid Russian threats.

• Bolster defense spending. “We need American strength,” he said. “The world is at its safest when America is at its strongest.”

Rubio was harsh on Obama in speaking to three groups hosting his address, The Project for the Common Defense, the John Hay Initiative, and Concerned Veterans for America.

“Previous presidents have merely taken their foot off the gas pedal of American strength,” he said after making an earlier reference to former President Bill Clinton. “But President Obama has stomped the brake,” said Rubio.

He charged that Obama has cut spending, allowed sequestration to cut even deeper and the result has been a drawdown of troops to near World War II levels.

“Our force reductions have been felt throughout the world, by our friends and our enemies. They have presented not just a crisis of readiness for America, but also a perilous strategic weakness,” said Rubio.

The senator, who sits on the foreign relations and intelligence committees, showed his hand on what he would do as commander-in-chief writing the Pentagon budget.

Rubio said that the country should focus spending on “modernization and innovation.” He would build more ships to project force, push harder for production of the Air Force F-35, hire more troops, expand intelligence capabilities, and raise benefit standards for the military.

“America cannot avoid its role as global leader,” he concluded. “No other nation can be trusted to defend peace and advance liberty.”

92 million?

The total US labour force is only 150 million.
That would mean over 60% of the workforce has suddenly disappeared - six out of every ten.

I'll call bullshit. Massive bullshit.

There's nothing much you've said here that wasn't readily apparent before he was elected.

You’re quoting a Republican presidential hopeful issuing a list of platitudes and vague spending priorities.

If you want to deny Obama’s military expansion, use facts.

And if you want to promote a military expansionist presidential candidate, quote the biggest hawk in Washington:

Hilary Clinton.

Not only is it bullsht, the so-called "leading GOP presidential candidate", a Florida senator, has absolutely no chance of being selected.

On the one hand, Obama is seen as someone who’s either sold out his reform agenda or been too ineffectual to make it happen.

On the other, it’s the economy. There have been huge job losses, the US may well enter another recession, and this hits the urban poor harder than anyone.

Read your GOP candidate’s policies: he wants to stimulate the US economy by building ships and planes, and sending them off to war in the Middle East.

There’s a sense in the US that Obama is fiddling while Rome burns.

Rome, however, is not burning, it’s declining. There are no easy answers to the problem, but the citizens want them. Anyone with a Bible and a sales pitch can sell himself as a presidential candidate these days (look at Obama), but no one can fix the mess.

Americans are slowly starting to realize this, and they hate the idea of waking up one day and not being number one anymore.
