Actually no...as with the US FTA that Howard signed us up to, this one will also have problems.
I don't personally like the idea of FTAs mostly because the playing field is never level and we always end up on the receiving end.

Are we getting them cheaper? We are already flooded with dumped goods from third world countries and this FTA with China is only going to increase the rubbish forced on us. We haven't got the same buying power as the Chinese because of our small population - so someone's going to be the loser - and it won't be the Chinese.

We tear up our country and sell the minerals for a pittance to China and then boost their economy when we buy back the finished product. We should be manufacturing everything here. Abbott has sold us out and most people know it - even Jones who has obsessively defended him for years.

The only use the Chinese are going to have for us is wiping the bottoms of their ageing parents.

This has to be the most amazing part of all.  Its often tragic to watch how we all get so filled with pride when a pollie tells us, "you're so lucky, you live in a democracy" and we dutifully repeat with a tear in our eye, "yeah we're so lucky, we live in a democracy" and yet something that so crucially impacts on our lives like the FTA is kept secret from us; we're not allowed to know until after the deal is done.
