Title: Fact for today - carbon dioxide Post by Armchair_Politician on Jan 9th, 2015 at 7:52am
Carbon dioxide (Co2) is a trace gas that, by itself, will produce little warming. Also, as carbon dioxide increases, the incremental warming is less, as the effect is logarithmic. Therefore, the more carbon dioxide, the less warming it produces, shattering long-held theories that this naturally occurring gas that is essential for life is the cause of global warming!

Oh sorry a.p, didn't notice your attempt at gaining my attention until now.
So are you contacting the majority of climate scientists with your scientific breakthrough? |

Just as the true believers* don't say global warming much anymore, but climate change, so they don't refer to carbon dioxide much, rather it's just carbon - instant chemical transformation.
*Since the true believers no longer had communism to dedicate their hearts & minds to, the whole climate scenario, with its oscillations between ice ages and heat waves, has been their propaganda battlefield of choice. |

Ultimately, observation trumps hypothesis every time. Temperatures have stalled for 18 years now and CO2 concentrations have increased by around 35%. pretending there is a correlation between the two that is linear and that it can be extrapolated has been comprehensively debunked.
You don't have to be a climate scientist to debunk a hypothesis that has failed in its every single facet. |

an unverified source with a date series too large and too imprecise. from what I see it both confirms the 18 year hiatus in warming and makes 2014 at best 0.05 degrees warmer than last which at best is statistically insignificant. all this is stuff they teach you in high school -- the experience you missed. |

you are such an idiot, probably because unless everything is detailed and explained to the nth degree you will misinterpret. let me be clear - although probably not clear enough for you. over the past 60 years temperatures have risen a total of 0.8 degrees but NOTHING over the past 18 years. to most people that would mean that the 0.8 rise occurred over the first 42 years of that period. I look forward to your next deliberate misinterpretation. |

Thanks, Longy, we’ve both seen the graph which you concur with. The rise in the average global temperature over the past 18 years has been consistent with the previous 42 years. You are deliberately going against what you, yourself, have acknowledged: a 0.8 degree rise over the past 18 years. You tried to minimize this rise by saying it’s inconsequential. Remember? Of course, it would be inconsequential if it was an aberration, but this rise is consistent with the past few decades. There is every reason to assume it will continue, which will be devastating over the next two centuries. You’ve done your maths - I am agreeing with you. If you think I’m an idiot, what do you think of yourself? |

Hi Innocent, it is not about banning CO2. Its about balancing and reducing CO2 emission. And CO2 is only just part of complex chain of events that form our weather around the globe. In addition, for our entire race to progress, we need to move away from burning of animal remains as primary form of energy production - because, its in-efficient, its limited, and it also produce a host of other harmful substances. We need to move to more cleaner, more abundant source of energy. Hope school treat you well. ;) |

It's ALWAYS FRUSTRATING - but I've recently discovered the simplest way to explain C02 to the
"grey matter deficient" - "ostriches" and "climate leaners" is by way of the humble swimming pool and chlorine Now we KNOW that a swimming pool WITHOUT chlorine is one giant petri dish We ALSO know that the chlorine parts per million ratio is a "very delicate balance" We check our swimming pool PH daily to MAINTAIN this balance THREE and a HALF TIMES its recommended daily dose of chlorine ? - with nature's "recommended" parts per million of C02 - since the 1960's A late surprise guest entry float at the Daylesford New Year's Eve street parade, 2014 |
