Title: Stephen Fry's interview
Post by Simmo on Feb 3rd, 2015 at 12:59pm
Did anyone see Stephen Fry's response to a question about what he would say to God if he met him.

I can't post any links yet (still a new member) but if you google "stephen fry utterly utterly evil" the video will be in the search results.

Just about sums it up for me!

I can't remember which atheist it was, but the response to "what would you do if you ever met god" led to the answer "well which one then"

There are an infinite number of assumptions in framing the question. I am glad he went beyond the Abrahamic God in his answer, although in the end it doesn't really matter one way or the other. However, I always find something contradictory in pseudo logic that one God is somehow a more realistic likelihood than a pantheon.

But before anyone goes making assumptions about my beliefs, I would like to point out that a couple of pious twits on the forum have already accused me of being agnostic. I am not. Neither am I a God fearer or an atheist. Those are categories of someone else's head space.

Good propaganda, Comrade. Keep sowing the seeds of discontent, pessimism and nihilism. Only when everyone is as miserable as us "progressives" can there be world peace. This is progress.

A month ago, you might have recognised the face from somewhere, but no front bottom knew the name Stephen fry.

Add a homorriage and some contrived comments on atheism and voila!  The left have a new prophet.

The earliest recorded name of god is Elohim, which is plural

He was one half of one of the greatest comedy teams from the '80s and '90s.

You are talking about Stephen "Melchitt" Fry here correct?  Also, his thoughts on atheism are nothing new either, he's been criticising religion for decades.

"The God that created this world is an utter maniac"

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO GOD, STEPHEN FRY?

"Bone cancer in children? Whats that about? How dare you!! How dare you create a world in which there is such misery that is not our fault? Its not right! Its utterly, utterly evil! Why should i respect a capriscious mean minded, spupid God who creates a wolrd that is so full of injustice and pain? That is what i would say to God."
- Stephen Fry

Stephen Fry.

The man who doesn't know what the cause of bone cancer [and indeed many other illnesses] in children, is.

But nevertheless, Stephen Fry is a person who believes that it is OK to rail against the creator God, and to blame God [if he does exist] for every evil that is in the world.

Ecclesiastes 7:29
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

Stephen Fry, is a man who regards himself as being an intelligent human being, and yet, he is a man who promotes the idea that putting your 'seeding device' [your 'recreation' device] into a channel full of sewage should be widely regarded as 'socially acceptable' or 'clever' not harmful - BECAUSE HE WANTS TO DO IT!

Stephen Fry, is a man, who like so many men, declares that they will not be constrained by God's laws.

But then loudly, and indignantly whine, and complain, that it is all God's fault, when evil befalls them/men!

Isaiah 48:17
Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
18  O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

i.e.
Men like Stephen Fry say;

"I won't respect and obey God [my creator], but how dare God allow evil to come upon us/me!"

God's laws, are not oppressive;

Psalms 73:1
Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

Isaiah 1:16
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17  Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

Jeremiah 21:12
O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Jeremiah 22:3
Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

Psalms 34:11
Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12  What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13  Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14  Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

+++

p.s.
Stephen Fry isn't a Hebrew.

Stephen Fry is not subject to ancient Hebrew law.

Stephen Fry is not subject to ancient Hebrew law because Stephen Fry lives in the world, separated from God.

Stephen Fry, himself, chooses this circumstance.

advice to steven;

Stephen Fry, you are widely regarded as being an intelligent human being,
.....SO PLEASE, PLEASE STOP WHINING INCESSANTLY, THAT YOU DON'T LIKE LIVING IN A WORLD WITHOUT GOD!

That's quite the resume - host (or panellist, I dunno) of a boring quiz show on ABC and a bit part in a half decent, semi successful 10 year old movie.  If that's the best of it, I don't think there's really much need for that second 'etc'.

But I suppose in the end its true, Stephen Fry is a washed up comedic actor giving views on homosexuality and atheism.

On the other hand though, Kirk Cameron is vibrant, talented, in demand drama actor who is forced to deny his fundamentalist Christianity for the sake of his career.

Cameron currently partners with fellow evangelist Ray Comfort, training Christians in evangelism. Together, they founded the ministry of The Way of the Master,[35] which is best known for the television show of the same name that Cameron co-hosts, and which won the National Religious Broadcasters’ Best Program Award for two consecutive years.[36] It also formerly featured a radio show known as The Way of the Master Radio with talk show host Todd Friel.[37] The radio show was later canceled, and replaced with Wretched Radio, hosted by Friel. Cameron, along with his wife, founded The Firefly Foundation, which runs Camp Firefly, a summer camp that gives terminally ill children and their families a free week's vacation.[38][39]

Cameron and Comfort participated in a televised debate with atheists Brian Sapient and Kelly O'Conner of the Rational Response Squad, at Calvary Baptist Church, in Manhattan, on May 5, 2007. It was moderated by ABC's Martin Bashir and parts of it were aired on Nightline. At issue was the existence of God, which Comfort stated he could prove scientifically, without relying on faith or the Bible.[40] The audience was composed of both theists and atheists. Points of discussion included atheism and evolutionary theory.[41] While Sapient contended during his arguments that Comfort violated the rules by talking about the Ten Commandments, Cameron later stated on the Way of the Master radio show that the rules of the debate did not say that the Bible could never be referenced, but rather that Comfort simply had to come up with one argument that didn't reference the Bible or faith.[42]

In November 2009, Cameron and others distributed free copies of an altered version of Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species on college campuses in the United States.[43][44] The book consisted of Darwin's text with chapters of the book removed, and with an added introduction by Ray Comfort reiterating common creationist assertions about Darwin and evolution. The book was criticized by scientists and Darwin biographers who criticized the omission of key chapters of the book, and who stated that its introduction contains misinformation about Darwin, and long-refuted creationist arguments about the science of evolution,[45][46] such as the linking of Nazi racial theories to Darwinist ideas.[44] Comfort later said that the four chapters were chosen at random to be omitted in order to make the book small enough to be affordable as a giveaway, with the absent chapters available for download, but that the missing chapters were included in the second edition, which had a smaller text size that made printing the entire book as a giveaway affordable. The second edition still lacks Darwin's preface and glossary of terms.[47] The National Center for Science Education arranged a campaign to distribute an analysis of the Comfort introduction and a banana bookmark at colleges across the U.S., a reference to Comfort's presentation of the banana as an argument for the existence of God.[48]

On March 2, 2012, Cameron stated on Piers Morgan Tonight that "homosexuality is unnatural, detrimental and ultimately destructive to foundations of civilization".[49] Cameron's comments received criticism from GLAAD,[50] and provoked a backlash from gay rights activists and members of the entertainment industry, including Roseanne Barr, Kristin Chenoweth, Craig Ferguson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Debra Messing, Martha Plimpton, as well as Growing Pains co-stars Tracey Gold and Alan Thicke. Piers Morgan stated that Cameron was brave for expressing his opinion, "however antiquated his beliefs may be".[51][52][53] Rosie O'Donnell invited him to discuss his comments on same-sex marriage on The Rosie Show, but he declined and suggested a private dinner to discuss this topic personally.[54]

On April 11, 2012, Cameron was honored by Indiana Wesleyan University, and inducted into their Society of World Changers during a ceremony in which he spoke on IWU's campus.[55]

Take your pick.

It is a choice between males and females but this choice is always naturally there. That is of course if there are medical issues which affect the ability to conceive. There choice is never naturally there with homosexuals. Unless they make up a milk shake and get some l e z zo to bake it.

So in actual fact since they can conceive if they so wish, therefore problem is gone. we have a solution! Praise the lord.

No. It's just a fact. I don't know why you are arguing. If society collapsed tomorrow gay couples wouldn't be having kids. Our meddling with nature would cease and conception would be purely natural.

If you're not a little bit sickened by the though of two men having sex, you're gay.

No. It's just a fact. I don't know why you are arguing. If society collapsed tomorrow gay couples wouldn't be having kids. Our meddling with nature would cease and conception would be purely natural.

Yep. You need to learn the definition of abnormal.

If an animal is born with a birth defect, it doesn't follow that birth defects are normal.

If he was using "abnormal" purely inn the sense that it deviates from the norm, then I agree.

However, given the post history, I assumed he was referring to abnormal as in deviant.

Any biological abberation?

If we are still using aberration using the meaning of "not usual" then you might as well include redheads or people with heterochromia.

Nobody cares about these things, and they don't hurt anyone, just like being attracted to people with the same bits as you.

If this forum is anything to go by, people argue for hours but both claim they don't care.

I kinda feel sorry for your everyday homos, as they cop the blowback from the delusional, militant ones that the media gives voice to.  Most of them seem to want them to STFU just as much as I do.

What do you mean don't know about it?  People are gay - it's not newsworthy, and it's not "brave" of them to say so.  You'd be surprised just how few people give a bugger, if the topic isn't constantly being brought up.

Not having anal is fairly common

Yep, but not amongst gays.

I can only really go on what they say they do. I have no reason to suspect Stephen Fry is lying when he says he doesnt have anal sex. If he's such an out there gay as seems to be suggested why would he wimp out at saying that yes he does butts.

I think what he wanted to say that he doesn't do anal with his "wife".  While he's partaking in his weekly six some however, no holes are barred.
Neega, these homers have a shitton of sex, with numbers that maybe 0.00001% of straight men could match, and that's just your regular homos.  If gay men are as attracted by fame as women are, and evidence suggests they are, then this fry fella would have plowed 10,000 buttholes.  Not for a second do I think he, or any man, is satisfied with handies, blowies and most ludicrous of all - smacking thigh gaps.

Yep. You need to learn the definition of abnormal.

If an animal is born with a birth defect, it doesn't follow that birth defects are normal.

But Stratos, and greg, et al, will tell us that if a man is born with a sexual lust for another man, then pursuing that sexual lust, is healthy and normal.

Is there anything to suggest it isn't?

If anything, the evidence clearly shows that suppressing sexuality leads to more problems than allowing people to pursue consensual relationships with whomever they please.

Quote:

The epidemic really exploded in places like San Francisco, New York and Miami because of the gay culture of the 80s. Bathhouses allowed gay men to have sex with sometimes dozens of partners in a night. You can imagine the exponential growth of a virus that this would encourage. At first, HIV was even called GRID (gay-related immune deficiency).
.....
.....
Moving forward in the history of the epidemic, there was stigma surrounding HIV seropositivity. In a lot of people's minds, if you were HIV-positive, you were gay. A lot of the first doctors to see HIV-positive patients have been quoted as saying that if a man came in and said they were straight, they wouldn't believe them. A lot of them thought women couldn't even get it. PBS did a nice documentary on this (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/aids/). With this stigma came a resistance to seeking treatment that continues to this day and adds to the spread of the virus.

You have to admit this statement has implications. It seems that those accused of homophobia are actually homosexual. Homophobia then, is actually homosexuals denouncing homosexuals. So we can all go home now, and let them sort it out.
