In the 19th century the name was secured by patent for a brand of matches, hence you don't see kids being called that any more for fear of litigation.

Well, to be fair to them it's always the first-born son who takes on the name 'Mohammad' in honour of the prophet (pbuh). Subsequent sons can be called anything from Ahab-the-Arab to Sinbad-the-Sailor.  8-)

How many 'Marys', Marias' and 'Josephs' are there in Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and South America? And maybe Poland and the Philippines

I see no 'Peters, Johns, Matthews or Jesus murdering anyone while quoting a reference to the bible as justification. .

The insurance policy I bought from gandalf (pbuh) only guarantees against a beheading ... but not for being drowned, or crucified, or burned alive, or shot, or sold into sex slavery. 

Each of these others is a further $1000 which I'm now saving up for. When full payment is made I'm then allowed to paint a big green star and crescent on my front door as a sign that I'm halal and not to be f***ed with.

There is no rule that u need to name your child Mohamed.

The popularity of the name in Britain is not surprising. Most Muslim families will name a first born son Mohammed, or some variation of that name, after the religion's most holy prophet. There is far more variety among traditional British or Christian names.

Yes, and given how sensitive they are about their prophet, I would have thought they'd find it hugely disrespectful.
