Title: What's for sale? Post by Aussie on Aug 5th, 2015 at 4:30pm
There's this bloke I know. He's got big pockets and is in a spending mood. He is looking to spend up to $1B on mining/extraction, telecommunications, IT, hotels, real estate, airline, health, hard assets ~ looking for a distressed vendor. Looking for something which needs cash and new management to get going.

you could sell him your taxi plates Aussie
afterall, with Uber nipping at the heels they'll be worthless before long, you may as well cash in while you can. |

Mate the list is huge...
Parliament. Bronwyn needs a sponsor - her travel and accommodation is not cheap so $1Billion will cover a year or so at least. Hmm... The AFP might be open to offers, as long as you are not going to Bali anytime soon. Most of corporate Australia would be for sale. State Parliament - no questions asked there, that has been for lease, short term hire and on sale for decades now - your mate might even get a good price. Pick a state, any state. There are some good starters for your mate. |

True. But, the instant Government makes unequivocal statements outlawing Uber (they already have but Uber is thumbing its nose at Minister Tradd) I reckon buying taxi despatch companies (like Black & White, Yellow etc ~ that includes licences) will be a good'n. Until Government makes its position firmly clear, the industry is treading water. So, it is not something my dude would presently look at. |

it won't happen ... sure, some of the current crop of ministers may come out and talk the talk, but long term, Uber is staying. WA is already looking at ways to control it rather than banning it, and the other states will follow suite once they've seen how it's worked for WA. |

No, but I'm sure he'd have a look at any panel manufacturer which wanted out. |
