Title: Libs gutter politics
Post by Johnsmith on Sep 21st, 2015 at 5:59pm
It seems the libs have now resorted to blatant lying and gutter politics. Disgraceful behavior from our politicians.

The Northern Territory Government has decided to pull a string of advertisements that accuse Labor and Independent MLAs of blocking drug legislation, after the taxpayer-funded campaign was slammed as misleading by the Opposition and independents.

A full-page article appeared in the NT News on Friday and Monday with an NT Government crest published on it.

The office of Chief Minister Adam Giles said the combined cost of the ads was $8,203.87.

"The NT Government proposed legislation to give police more power to stop and search ice traffickers on our major highways," the advertisement said.

"This law was was blocked in Parliament," it continued, before listing Labor and independent MLAs who "blocked" the laws.

Independent MLA Gerry Wood slammed it as "deceptive ... gutter politics" that was factually incorrect because Labor and the cross bench last week only voted against an "urgency motion".

The policy hasn't even been presented to parliament yet. They should be made to pay back the tax dollars used for thus crap

Drugs are a medical problem not a police one. If that is not recognised soon drug addiction will just continue to rise.

But nobody would doubt the Liberals lying about it.

How can anyone block legislation that hasn't been presented ?

yes already a group are after making ICE legal.. why bother fighting something that wont go away... :(

when you say medical problem are you suggesting we send medics out to fight the gangs??...

the cops only arrest people they dont administer to them...

our emergency depts and our ambos are full of addicts...we spend more on them than any other illness I reckon...

how do you think the police feel arresting these people over and over again only to turn around and find them back on the streets..

you know people have to want to be helped...if they dont then its a complete waste of resources.

I would rather see our resources spent on the children who are trapped in families who really dont give a sh!t about anything but their next fix...

I am over them to be honest.... they are adults.. let them get on with it..

addiction is rife in Darwin..its almost the norm..

its time to tell it as it is.. and not whitewash over it...

I want to remove the profits the gangs make. I want to minise the harm drugs do. I want to stop the crime junkies do to get the money for their next fix.

The War on Drugs™ has been lost but then has prohibition worked anywhere?

What if addicts could buy drugs and clean needles for use in a registered shooting–up centre—where would criminals get their profits?

Stuff like Plain Packaging has worked wonders in reducing tobacco usage and stopping youngsters from taking up the filthy, brutish habit. Let us use our brains and THINK!

Stop being so PC, old boy. Here in Australia, we call our blacks boongs.

That’s the problem with you people. You refuse to assimilate.

Seems to me John is so dispirited over the Turnbull coup & the reversal of fortunes that he's had to go trawling the outer limits to find some anti-Lib story.
Would that be right John?

not at all boges .... I was hoping Turncoat would challenge. There was no gutter trawling, at the time I posted it it was the 2nd or third most popular story on the ABC news website.

That's one good thing about the libs, you never have to go far to find libs behaving badly.

of course, Turncoat now has to deliver. If he sticks to abbots policies then he's not better than the mad monk

And you never have to go too far to find an anti-Lib story on the ABC and you can be sure it will be kept near the top.
