Title: Deported - good riddens
Post by Maqqa on Oct 27th, 2015 at 1:37am
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-26/lebanese-born-sydney-dad-faces-deportation-unlicensed-driving/6886366

A Lebanese-born Sydney father is waiting in a detention centre after being told he could be deported for driving without a licence.

Arja arrived in Sydney in 2010 and got permanent residency last year. He was working as a tradesman when he arrested for driving without a licence on at least three occasions

Let me guess ... the first time he got caught without a license, he copped a fined. The second time, he was fined and warned of more serious consequences if he did it again. The third time, he was reminded of his previous two offenses and then the serious consequences came to bear down on him - He's got a pretty thick skull

But now ! his wife has pleaded for help by saying: "My four-year-old calls it 'daddy's home' (Detention Centre) ... they will grab the cooking tongs and say 'daddy cook the barbeque for us' and 'when is he going to come home?'"

Now that should be enough to sway even the hardest judge to let him stay, God willing

Though he is obviously a nutter, why do people do that.

He may have been lucky, if he were Australian I guess we would have had to shoot him.

Why don't they just take their cars away?
No that wouldn't work, they'd just steal one from an honest person.

It might seem harsh, but guess how many unlicenced immigrants WONT be driving today?

I was hit by an unlicenced, uninsured driver in an unregistered car. Anything that helps change that is okay by me.

It does seem severe, BUT - and its a big one - it might moderate some law-breaking by our immigrant population. AND those 'lovely people' who want to live here but have no intention of becoming citizens might rethink it...

I am of two minds about this action, but not of the law itself.

Wrong. For example there is the car hoon legislation in NSW. It doesn't matter if it's the parents' car. If a kid gets caught hooning in the car, it gets confiscated for a set period by Police. It's the law, it's been legislated, it's not stealing.

Everyone pays taxes every day in every way - get over it..... tax is not just income tax, and you missed by a country mile.  Taxation on goods and services in its many forms impacts proportionately more greatly on those with the least.

No that wouldn't work, they'd just steal one from an honest person.

Taking their cars away IS STEALING.

No, it's called impounding them.

Don't play semantics.

They take something by force which doesn't belong to them - that's stealing.

Or, if you want to be accurate - it's theft.

Wrong. For example there is the car hoon legislation in NSW. It doesn't matter if it's the parents' car. If a kid gets caught hooning in the car, it gets confiscated for a set period by Police. It's the law, it's been legislated, it's not stealing.

Grasshopper - you are beginning to approach the issue of the fundamental differences between Law, law as practiced, legislation and regulation.... your studies are proceeding well...........

Meditate on these differences....

I would be far more familiar with a tax-return form than you'd be, that's for bloody certain.

I think you mean DOLE-FORM or PAROLE APPLICATION.

Such a relief not to have to slave for it any more....... all bought and paid for, too!  Great investment in taxes for fifty years..... and still paying taxes......

Why? Do you think he has more experience with A) a tax return or B) a dole form?

As for a parole application, people with his levels of anger frequently end up with those kinds of issues.
