Bananaby and Fiona Nash designed an NBN very similar to what the ALP was rolling out. This was in Howard’s time and they knew Howard didn’t care about infrastructure so they just filed the plan at Page House.

Yeh, so, 'cloud computing' and 'next-generation wireless networking' are the basic answers for the question: "What sort of applications would need this volume of bandwith?", then?
