Title: 8 cents a litre fuel hike - questions raised
Post by red baron on Dec 3rd, 2015 at 6:38am
The NSW Government raised the spectre of raising fuel  taxes so that 90 service stations that currently do not have 'Ethanol' pumps can have them installed.

The 90 stations have 'exemptions'  currently but change is in the wind.

Interestingly over 50% of drivers use Premium petrol why? Because Ethanol laden petrol is sh.t. Also the regular unleaded leaves crap in your engine which is costly in the long run.

Nanny State rules O.K. huh?

In my case it's because that's what the cars require, Subaru B4 and chipped SS Dunnydoor.

Somebody with powerful friends has demanded a donation from the public of OPM. This tax will yield $ 450 million a year and it appears much more than is require to convert petrol stations.

Why should the public pay for this?

Taxes are never removed after imposition. This means this tax will continue after the purported ethanol conversions have finished.

The government is lying again.

There should be only one fuel available for your car

& that's the one  that makes your cars engine run/perform better & use less fuel.

That's the higher octane premium unleaded.

there should be no regular/standard unleaded

& the ethanol blend should be dumped

Oil is the lowest it's been in decades & is nearly US$40 a barrel & we are still paying around AU$1.20 to $1.40 a litre

Unleaded fuel at an average of $1.25 per litre is recoups nearly $200 for a 159 litre barrel that costs $75.

And $1.25 is very conservative ... some places are paying up to $1.40 p/l

Both my cars need 95, and I can't use an ethanol/petrol mix in one of them.
