South Australian independent senator Nick Xenophon has unveiled the first of his candidates running under the "Nick Xenophon Team" (NXT) banner at the next federal election.
He has targeted a number of prized Coalition seats held by some of the nation's most high-profile politicians. Senator Xenophon's plan to take the seats was likely stronger when Tony Abbott was prime minister, but now he will have to tackle the popularity of Malcolm Turnbull. 1. Warringah (Abbott) 2. Sturt (Pyne) 3. Mayo (Brigs) 4. Higgins (O'Dwyer) 5. Groom more http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-07/xenophon-eyes-off-five-big-coalition-targets-for-seats/7007316 |

It's a bit ambitious of Xenophon to be casting his eye away from South Australia, IMO. Xenophon should play to his strengths. His party is in with a chance in most seats in South Australia. The strategy I think he should pursue is to put resources into winning seats in South Australia (where Xenophon is very popular) and if he succeeds in building this bridgehead of seats he can then set his sights farther afield.
My prediction (before Turnbull became PM) was that Xenophon's team would win four seats in SA. That may still happen. Xenophon's party should pick up a Senate seat as well. |

Excellent - the Greens have a real shot at this seat, and Xenophon can deliver preferences. That is if he's still not butt-hurt about the 2013 South Australia falling out. |

So Xenophon's no longer an 'independent'
Sounds like the regurgitation of the Democrats...... |

Democrats were kicked of by a burnt-out libbo (Chipp). Zeno is a goer and will do well if he sticks with his present policies. |

Higgins is highly vulnerable to an assault from the Greens. Higgins includes the Victorian state seat of Prahran, a seat that the Greens took from the Liberals in the 2014 Victorian state election. Higgins also includes other areas with a high Greens vote. O'Dwyer will have to campaign hard to save her seat and she needs to start now. |
