Bill Shorten, the lowest rating leader in Newspoll history.
That figures.
While Malcolm's down to 60. Guess he can live with that.

And STILL a better option as PM than ANYONE the Lib/Nats have.

All these polls show is how ignorant the average voter is.

That's for his party to decide. I guess they have written off the next election anyway and look at Bill as a good caretaker.

While Shorten is clearly unpopular, a 1% shift is within the margin of error, so it's not a reasonable indicator anything has changed.

What you're omitting is that Turnbull has had a significant 16-point reduction in his net satisfaction rating in the space of two weeks. The gloss is wearing off.

Yes, he is at the same level Turnbull was.

Quote:
Lowest "Better Prime Minister" score

Brendan Nelson holds the record with 7% (29 February-2 March 2008).

Simon Crean (28–30 November 2003), Malcolm Turnbull (27-29 November 2009) and Bill Shorten (4-6 December 2015) recorded the equal-second lowest career low, with 14% .

Yes that's true. He could still be on a rating of almost universally detested instead of sinking to universally detested.

Correction:
1 when I mentioned 60% for Malcolm I might have confused it with his GoldmanSachs commission.

2 lowest leader figure should have been lowest in News poll history - Australian

No. There has been two Liberals at or below this though.

Shorten is very unpopular. Mostly owing to the fact he appears incompetent

As I keep saying, Turnbull is basking in not being Tony Abbott. Thats pretty much the sum of his appeal at the moment - you really can't point at any actual leadership or policy achievements to explain his popularity. And while people are still giddy about the guy who isn't Tony Abbott, of course Shorten's appeal will suffer in comparison.

What we need to look at though is what happens when the honeymoon ends - and it is beginning to end now. How will he navigate policy directions in a party that he is basically committed to upholding the stinking carcass of Abbott's legacy? Now that will be interesting to see.

While democracy and the current system especially could be updated to be more representative, it sucks less than the alternatives.

I will freely admit I am relieved Abbott is no longer in charge, scared the hell out of me.

Yawn. 9% would still be better than the PPM ratings Nelson had against Rudd.

Turnbull had 14% as his lowest PPM figures ... against Rudd.

Turnbull will be the Liberals' equivalent to Rudd. Initially popular, but when put under pressure his weakness will be exposed, people will see through him, he will start to look like a fool, and down his ratings will go. And he will decline, do you forget that he has done so once already?

He has had an easy ride from the media. EEEEEEASY. That ended last night on 7.30 when Sales asked him some difficult questions for the first time as PM, he was barely coherent when trying to fumble for a response. Your hero got OWNED. And it won't be the last time. The Ashby-Brough affair still has a while to run.

And STILL a better option as PM than ANYONE the Lib/Nats have.

All these polls show is how ignorant the average voter is.

You truly are delusional. You think you know better than 60% of voters? All your comments show is how ignorant and biased you are.

that proves absolutely nothing ... the majority of people voted in Abbott, and look what an absolute disaster he turned out to be. ;D ;D ;D

The same can be said of Rudd. He won convincingly and turned out to be the least successful and most tyrannical PM this country ever had. He also cried like a baby in Parliament.

he also couldn't do one chin up..

Hilarious,,

I wouldn't consider the ALP "left", nor would I vote for any or the major parties, so I don't much care about how shorten is doing. He is obviously incapable of doing his current job well.
