Title: Shorten Caught Dangerous Driving
Post by Greens_Win on Dec 10th, 2015 at 9:43pm
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten caught using phone while driving

OPPOSITION Leader Bill Shorten has been caught on camera using his mobile phone while driving.

The video, obtained by the Herald Sun, shows the Labor leader using his phone for at least six seconds as he drives along Kings Way at 40km/h.

Mr Shorten said he did not recall why he was using his phone but admitted he shouldn’t have been doing it.

“Like most drivers, I always try to do the right thing,” Mr Shorten said last night.

“But there’s no doubt that using your phone while driving is the wrong thing to do — there’s no excuse for it. I shouldn’t have done it and won’t do it again.”

He had just dropped his children off at music practice when the video was captured. He could not rule out that he was texting at the time.

I haven't had any traffic or parking infringement in 30 years, yes I sill drive, I'm 56.

I don't even own a mobile, but if emergency services have an exception, so would the PM and L of the O. We'll see what they spin out of it.

If he was a Lib, he would have been spending hundreds of dollars a day of taxpayers' money on a driver.

Get your poo together Set.
OK
The office of the person can over-ride a law that you must comply with. Emergency workers are an example. If they are excluded from that law, do you think pollies will think themselves below them?

The less people that do it the better.

what an absolute disgrace and you are 100% right

you have to wonder about the last crash he had, the police should have investigated it and confiscated his phone

how anyone can excuse or defend this is unbelievable!!

handfree is fine for talking, but if you're trying to do a deal and waiting for a reply someone to reply and your phone beeps to tell you that you've received an SMS, 99% of people will read the sms while driving.

it has already been proved when talking on a phone you are not concentrating on the driving.....

I think its the same with those maps as well...people make sudden moves....they are all a distraction...you use a map when going to a place you are unfamiliar with...stands to reason there are more than  road signs you need to be looking out for... what ever happened to using ones brain and working it out before the trip.

whats wrong with turning the phone off??....

THE LAW WAS ONLY BROUGHT IN AFTER MANY MANY ACCIDENTS SOME EVEN FATAL....

HE HAS BROKEN THE LAW AND YOU SAY GOOD ON HIM IT MAKES HIM HUMAN.. WELL DONE.

yes, it's illegal, yes he shouldn't have done it, but the only reason you or the retrds on here care is because he's a labor MP. The same retards criticising him for doing it I'd bet do the same thing themselves

oh give us a break... excuses excuses your full of them'''you kids are very very vulnerable when it comes to road accidents.........

they would not have brought in a law if phones were not a cause of accidents....

maybe you dont take any notice but a lot of children are dead because of mobile phone use whilst driving.. I thought it would make an impression on you... my error.

EVERYONE , and I mean EVERYONE who works in a mobile environment in this day and age has answered the phone or read a text message, at some point, while driving. Anyone who says they haven't is lying.

When I was 18, my girlfriend died while using her phone in the car in a collision with a Pantech truck. I didn't yet have my licence at that time but I have NEVER, not once in my entire life, used or even looked at my phone while driving. One time it rang while I was driving and I instinctively looked down at the passenger seat at it for a split second then looked back at the road realising it was dangerous to look down there. From that time on, I always had my phone on silent and if anyone called or texted me, they could wait until I finished my journey. I don't plan on getting myself or someone else killed/hurt because I wasn't giving the road my full attention. I couldn't forgive myself if that happened.

you can see the error of the whole thing when you have been involved cant you.?? I am sorry to hear that.. we have of course no way of knowing the dangers of the past.. but I am sure they wouldnt have brought in a law to stop it   if it wasnt worth it..

will we stop the IDIOTS that still break the LAW>. of course we wont..

but we do expect MORE FROM OUR LEADERS... well at least Libs do..

sorry to see how flippant our lefty friends are.. when it comes to one of their own...no thats not true..

you're a nurse ... you don't work on the road. Any call you are likely to get is personal. It's not the same for people who work from place to place, and rely on their phone for their business.

Well, It has to be firmly secured to the vehicle. Poor Bill's doesn't appear to be affixed to anything but his hand.

It must be used as a driver's aid. that is minor details like address to which to respond. We wouldn't want them to go to the wrong address, so some poor bugger died, would we?

Can you now see why there is that latitude?

Title: Re: Shorten Caught Dangerous Driving

Sure, I can see the latitude quite clearly.  Not dangerous at all if an Ambo does it.....dangerous if 'Shorten' does it.

It may or may not be. Generally emergency services have a crew of 2. It would not generally be the driver who was reading the information.

It is there in case of a one person response. Is it dangerous? Yes. Is it demonstrably more dangerous to attend the wrong address?

Oh....I thought we were discussing the alleged inherent danger of driving while using a mobile phone.  I'll stick to that simple concept.  (Ambos have GPS tracking to every address they are sent to.....~ same as Cabs do ~ no need for any mobile phone use.)

Unless of course that in the case of an ambo, one of them is giving CPR to some poor bastard that's been hit by an ALP politician that was texting someone to save his own arse, while the other is phoning ahead to the hospital.

At least three women have also come forward to say that the last PM raped them.

Only the ALP has a leader accused of rape.

No link, liar. Only the ALP leader has been accused of raping.

Why are you excusing rape? Because he is from the ALP?

Shorten should get 20 strokes of the birch on his bare arse in a public square -
broadcast on live TV in prime time -

& then be stripped of his member of parliament status & entitlements.

As a leader he should set the example for all of us to follow.

Dear Cods,  ( Number 1 )

I just feel that the above is a suitable punishment since
Bill Shorten risked the lives of common people -
those who he has sworn to protect.
He can't claim the title of being an honorable man.

Yes, Gweggy being the good little union lackey knows that unions have only sworn to rip off their representatives and  constituents.

Finch, are you trying to verbal me?

Where did you pick up that Billy is my favoured rep?

As for who is a more important citizen...we all bleed the same colour.

You're trying to excuse Billy by using moral equivalence and trying to turn the focus onto those that filmed his illegal act.

Your left wing slip is not only showing, you're flashing it.

It wouldn't matter if it was Mal, I would still say the same. Filmee, filmer...both in the wrong...there is no first prize here.

Anyway, talking of morals, I see you're doing a pretty good job of dropping yours on OzPol, 96 post and counting on your first day signing up, keep it up Finch, we need the troffic. ::)

Shorten should get 20 strokes of the birch on his bare arse in a public square -
broadcast on live TV in prime time -

& then be stripped of his member of parliament status & entitlements.

As a leader he should set the example for all of us to follow.

Give it a rest.

The last PM was a woman basher.

At least three women have also come forward to say that the last PM raped them.

But at least they were adult. The preference for Labor MPs is preteens
