Because Tesla has a direct marketing/sales model that gets rid of the middle men spruikers this has got up the nose of the traditional car dealers so much so that they have had them banned in Texas. :D LOL

Quote:
"From the state that brought you the nation's first ban on climate science comes another legislative gem: a bill that would prohibit automakers from selling their cars in the state.

The proposal, which the Raleigh News & Observer reports was unanimously approved by the state's Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday, would apply to all car manufacturers, but the intended target is clear."*

North Carolina lawmakers want to effectively ban Tesla, the electric car company, because of "unfair" competition. Of course, the bill is being pushed by the state automobile dealer's association and the bill's sponsor took the maximum amount of campaign contributions from that group. Lovely. John Iadarola (Host, TYT University) breaks it down.

How will this work? If you live in Louisiana or Oklahoma, and drive into Texas, do they stop you at the border? :D :D

The release of the Toyota 86 used an Internet direct model as well, didn't completely cut out the middlemen but broke into their profits.  No doubt car dealers like taxi companies are going to have get used to the fact that the Internet has allowed other means of business and overcome and adapt or get bypassed.

It was like when they banned the TV series about Gangsters in Victoria but in some border towns it was literally available on the other side of the road.

Buy your Tesla interstate and deny the state the applicable taxes.  That will end this little broohaha.

No it's just banning the direct sales and not the use of the car.
