Cods,
Yes I understand your annoyance, but don't forget that Snorty Shorty will HAVE TO form an alliance with the limp wristed Greenies to form the WORST "Govt" in Australia's history, even worse than the six years of the Krudd/Gillard/Krudd abomination that inflicted colossal damage on Australia. Standby for the boats to restart, the return of the carbon tax, $1 trillion debt in just the first year,... |

Regrettably we have a Perfect Storm on the Political front.
For we have a Prime Minister who is scarily out of touch with what the average person faces in their life. This is reflected in the draconian Budget which finds 41 Billion in tax cuts for Big and Small Business yet leaves a baron earth for most working Australians. Then in the other corner we have Bill Shorten, a man with a dark union past. When I look at Shorten I see a man who is way out of his depth. This is a perfect storm that Australia cannot afford. |

And therein lies the heart of the matter. Even Turnbull can admit that Labor has great policies. He HAS stolen TWO of them, as well as bits and pieces of some others. Title: Re: Bill Shortens past Post by juliar on May 16th, 2016 at 9:39am
Snorten Shorten the dead man walking is Labor's liability. Shorty just opens his north and south to change feet!!!
If Labor could have got rid of Shorty they certainly would have but Krudd's dictator rules stopped them as Shorty is the election winning gift to the LNP that just keeps on giving. Shorty's drawing attention to the TURC threats still very much alive and hanging over his head is not a smart move and invites an easy LNP crushing attack. Bill Shorten does himself no favours by playing up his union past By Mungo MacCallum Tuesday, 10th May 2016 Geez, I've stuffed it this time Bill Shorten has announced that, if elected, he will govern like a trade unionist. This is indeed a courageous decision – and less in the manner of Sir Humphrey Appleby than in the manner of a suicide bomber. Shorten has every right to be proud of his union links, and even to parade them. He can claim that many of his unionist predecessors have been highly successful prime ministers: John Curtin, Ben Chifley and, more recently, Bob Hawke, spring immediately to mind. In historical terms, his boast can certainly stand up to scrutiny. But alas, in these unhappy times, it was not the right thing to say. Already the letters columns of the conservative press have been berating him, their readers telling him that they could never vote for him after this shameful admission. Of course, they were never going to vote for him anyway; but other more moderate punters – the swinging voters – might also find the idea of a their head of government taking his line from the AWU – let alone the CFMEU – a trifle disconcerting. Naturally, the Tories cannot believe their luck at what they see as a free kick, if not an own goal. Malcolm Turnbull has already revisited the Royal Commission in which Dyson Heydon spoke sharply to Shorten about the nature of his replies as the opposition leader tried to explain just how his stewardship of the AWU was deployed. Shorten, thundered the prime minister, had sold out the lowliest paid workers in order to feather the nests of the apparatchiks of the movement. But in one sense the damage that follows Shorten’s unwise assertion will come less from his ostensible opponents than from what would normally be called friendly fire. For some years now there has been an increasingly acerbic, although largely underground, debate about the Labor party and the influence of the union movement over the rank and file. Elder statesmen such as the revered Senator John Faulkner have been in the forefront, but they are not alone. A former leader, Simon Crean, led an abortive charge to reform the ALP in order to allow more membership participation, and more recently Kevin Rudd launched an open attack on the unions and their associated party factions. The traditional view is still that the political wing of the labour movement should remain subservient to the industrial wing; that, after all, is how the party was formed. But the long, slow demise of union membership has led a great many Labor supporters to query whether it is time to modernize to the rules and organization. Indeed, Shorten himself has mused along those lines himself. So it is probably not the best idea to suggest that his government should revert to the old model – a model of course rejected by the conservatives, but no longer unquestioningly embraced even by Shorten’s own followers. At the very outset of this campaign, Shorten returned to Beaconsfield to remember the tragedy and the triumph of miners and, by extension, of their unions. But that was a memorial service. It is not, and should not be, an agenda for a government in 2016. https://www.themonthly.com.au/blog/mungo-maccallum/2016/10/2016/1462852632/solidarity-forever |
Title: Re: Bill Shortens past Post by juliar on May 16th, 2016 at 9:42am
Frog old sole,
It was Labor who copied the policies of the LNP. Why do you think Malcolm is only saying little bits of things ? Simply cause Shorty, devoid of policies except what the Greenies tell him, would immediately copy them. |

Just pray to God or ALLAH that it doesn't come to this - a return of the worst "govt" in Australia's history!!!!!
Ha Ha suckers, just wait until the warped bent Greenies and me stuff up the whole country with more shocking Socialist stupidity!!! Labor-Greens pact would jeopardise jobs, prosperity The Australian May 16, 2016 12:00AM One of the more feasible claims Greens leader Richard Di Natale made yesterday was that in the event of a hung parliament, Bill Shorten would be more likely to deal with the Greens than to take Australians to another election. The Opposition Leader has dismissed the possibility of such an alliance, insisting the Greens are “dreaming’’. Should Mr Shorten find himself in a position to become prime minister, however, it is likely he could be leading a minority government, relying on Greens and other minority party and independents’ support. Judging by the priorities Senator Di Natale outlined yesterday, swinging voters should weigh up the costs of a Labor-Greens alliance, for their own families and for the nation. And Malcolm Turnbull and his team should point these out. Given the closeness of opinion polls, other minor parties such as the Nick Xenophon Team and potential independent MPs should also make it clear where they would stand in the event of a hung parliament. Mr Shorten is struggling to maintain discipline in Labor ranks for vital border protection measures such as boat turnbacks and offshore processing. In dealing with the Greens, he would be under even more pressure on the issue. On Sky News’s Australian Agenda yesterday, Senator Di Natale insisted that “more decent and compassionate treatment towards innocent people seeking refuge’’ would be a precondition for Greens’ support for a minority government. Eager to resume their deadly, lucrative trade, people-smugglers would test the limits of a Labor-Green government’s resolve. Labor has already stretched left with an ambitious and costly policy on climate change, promising to lift emissions cuts to 45 per cent from 2005 levels by 2030 compared with the Coalition’s target of 26 to 28 per cent. Labor also wants to increase the renewable energy target to 50 per cent by 2030. But from his extremist standpoint, Senator Di Natale dismissed Labor’s policies as a “veneer’’ and “not a climate policy’’. In return for their support, the Greens would demand a ban on new coalmines, and 90 per cent renewable energy by 2030. Higher power and retail prices, a less competitive economy, lower export earnings, fewer jobs, less investment, a collapse in property values and pressure on the tourism, retail and hospitality sectors would invariably be the end result of the Greens’ priorities. While condemning the “old’’ parties and claiming to be “progressive’’, the Greens’ plan to legislate to enshrine weekend penalty rates harks back to the staid world of the 1950s, when shops closed at noon on Saturdays and today’s 24/7 industries were unimaginable. The party’s commitment to scrapping the Turnbull government’s small business tax cuts, going further than Labor in abolishing negative gearing on all property investment, lifting capital gains tax and raising taxes for higher income earners are an attack on enterprise, hard work and thrift. Even as a minority player in a hung parliament, such scorched-earth economic policies have no place in modern Australia. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/opinion/editorials/laborgreens-pact-would-jeopardise-jobs-prosperity/news-story/fb5c699f74ab6a86a9be72fa151081ae |

The deep in denial lefties and Greenies have recovered from the shock of seeing just how unfit to be PM their hero Willi really is.

Gee Golly Gosh, even the Greenies Dumb Doc Dick is outsmarting poor little dead man walking Shorty who has only a short time remaining in politics.
SHY's people smugglers are already selling tickets for one way trips down south. As Shorty treads water and displays his inability to all he is making totally unfunded ruddiculous "promises" to all and sundry. Meanwhile, in Victoria: smarter Greens bad news for Labor The Australian John Ferguson Victorian Editor Melbourne Rick Wallace Journalist Melbourne May 16, 2016 12:48PM Sarah Hanson-Young and Richard Di Natale at the Adelaide Central Market. The Greens are getting much, much smarter politically and this is unequivocally bad for Bill Shorten. It’s just over four years since Bob Brown resigned as leader of the Greens and it must be said the party has prospered without him. Same can be said of Christine Milne, who maintained the hard as carbon but not nearly as flexible position that characterised Brown’s lengthy tenure. Every day was a war. Not for incumbent leader Richard Di Natale; he is so relaxed about the campaign that he went surfing last Friday and told the party at the weekend conference in Melbourne that there was no need to fear its media opponents, having a lighthearted crack at Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. “Every time you criticise the Greens, our vote goes up, our membership goes up so we’re looking forward to the next editorial,” it was reported. This of course doesn’t take away from the fact the party would be an economic disaster were it to be forced into a position of true legislative and policy power. While Brown and Milne virtually guaranteed the Greens would be a relatively small force, Di Natale has opened the way for broader popularity, which is problematic for Labor. The reason that Shorten has ruled out a coalition with the Greens is twofold. First, it would be an act of economic vandalism. Second, Labor needs to fight the Greens on the ground in key Melbourne and Sydney seats. He is forcing voters to make a choice and trying to distance himself from the Gillard era. Problem is, Shorten helped Gillard get elected. Labor’s short-term challenge is the July election, but its longer term challenge is keeping the Greens at bay in inner city seats. Shorten today pledged a further $59 million in assistance for the car industry, adding to the hundreds of millions already poured into the manufacturing sector. He made the announcement in the relatively safe Labor seat of Corio, held by Labor with a margin of just under 8 per cent. The big question in Victoria and South Australia is how the manufacturing sector will weather the car shutdown storm. This is core Labor business. Although Shorten will be most interested in the neighbouring Liberal seat of Corangamite, which backs onto Geelong, the once proud Ford heartland. Ford’s manufacturing is withering on the vine. The effects of the manufacturing slowdown, however, impact on Adelaide’s northern suburbs, Melbourne’s southeast and outer north. Despite the looming shutdowns, the Victorian jobs market has been relatively robust. At least until now. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/meanwhile-in-victoria-smarter-greens-bad-news-for-labor/news-story/f059a268ae5bfd6ee4cd7573ec93d24e |
