Title: Labor in debt meltdown
Post by Armchair_Politician on May 25th, 2016 at 10:30am
LABOR went into meltdown yesterday over government claims that it will create a massive $66.9 billion black hole in the Budget through its election spending spree.

In a battle that reached almost hysterical levels, the ALP’s key economic team of Tony Burke and Chris Bowen went on a fevered attack, accusing the government of making the numbers up.

Yet, despite all their uproar, they could not come up with a Budget black hole that was better than $32 billion.

As revealed exclusively in The Daily Telegraph yesterday, the Turnbull government launched its all-out assault on Labor’s Budget bottom line, with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull labelling Opposition Leader Bill Shorten “Billion Dollar Bill.”

A conga line of Labor frontbenchers lined up to label the figures “fictitious” and not worth “a grain of salt” — but they could not explain how they would fund the spending.

Treasurer Scott Morrison said despite revised foreign aid spending, Labor still could not fund its promises.

“Worst case is $67 billion, best case is a $32 billion black hole,” Mr Morrison said.

“Labor simply can’t pay for the promises they are making to the Australian people.”

Mr Burke began yelling during a bizarre media conference as he tried to claim the black hole had been made up.

“They know the information they’re giving the Australian people is wrong,” he pleaded, insisting that over the “medium term” there would be more improvements to the bottom line than outgoings.

Mr Shorten claimed the government was lying.

“What a desperate fellow this Mr Turnbull is becoming when he is resorting to the negative big lie of this election,” he said.

But the PM refused to be cowed by the shrill attacks, labelling Labor’s cash splash so far in the campaign as “flagrant wastefulness”.

“The real issue is the flagrant wastefulness and recklessness of the Labor Party, outspending us by 20 to one in this campaign,’’ he said.

“Billion Dollar Bill keeping on joking, making jokes about the spend-o-meter. He thinks it’s a joke spending all our taxes, that’s what Bill thinks, another billion here, another billion there.

“That’s what Bill Shorten thinks is terribly amusing, the spend-o-meter.

“He’s got a $67 billion black hole over the next four years. He has no way of paying for it other than by higher taxes.

Well we all know that neither side have any credibility when it comes to this.
One says Black the other says white, one says yes the other says no...
Abbott certainly shot the Libs through the heart on these issues by promising what he did then not keeping his word.
Australians are sick of this and it seems both major parties have learned nothing.

As stated elsewhere...  I expect Bill will keep making promises and do an Abbott and not live up to them or go deeper and deeper in debt trying.

Any way you look at it our polity is busted and full of fools.

And if they are so pitiful when it comes to just promising what they'll spend, imagine the mess if they get their hands on the financial levers again.

Budget Armageddon!

I think we must all be over...[ read I in case someone who doesnt like me is reading]....being given a load of crap before the election.. and when it doesnt happen out come the excuses...they got in on LIES....that surely should be against the constitution....

lets have it out on TV....tell us where the money is coming from.. I could even handle  a white board if thats what it takes....but at least give us a clue.....

even the greens are talking $40mil for drug addicts... where is it coming from???......

no matter what... its all been said before......and every year we are now getting deeper and deeper into the red......

so tell us who will be the sacrificial lambs.....

I cant see even our rich covering this lot... ::) ::)

Yes vote for Malcolm!   As an aside, I would be nice to see the Coalition booted, but that probably wont happen.   On the plus side, we get to watch the fumbling Coalition go from disaster to disaster for another three years.  Delicious to watch

Yes he did .. he admitted he didn't know

Mr Burke said the Government was lying to the Australian people.

"Joe Hockey had a reputation for making errors. Scott Morrison and Mathias Cormann, they're not stupid people, they know exactly what they're doing," he said.

"These are not accidents from the two of them. They know the information they're giving the Australian people is wrong."

Mr Morrison has since admitted the "black hole" could be less than he initially claimed
, saying it was "at least $32 billion and as much as $62 billion".

They should give it a go Jules, it can't be any worse than what they have now.  I thought giving Hockey the flick may have helped but sadly it hasn't.
After what Glen Stevens said recently, why would Labor want Government?

And the problem is Jules, whatever party forms Government will not only have to chow down on a nice green, 6 inch, uncut,  Di Natale stalk, but have a bit of Chinese as well!  Here's some trivia for your next Coalition kneesup.   Make sure you gargle after every blow!

The Greenies and their corrupt union controlled ALP puppet had SIX YEARS to create the chaos the LNP inherited.

The LNP has had ONLY THREE YEARS to try to clean up the shocking mess left by the sick Socialists.

Tripled budget deficit
160 billion of net debt
Highest unemployment in 14 years
33% fall in terms of trade
Economy in deflation

Every single economic metric undeniably says the economy is in a worse state than the one they inherited , UNDENIABLE

Allow we to show you why it is deniable:

"Hi  I'm a lib.  I don't think so I just do as I told because I'm a sheep and libs love us unthinking types (sheep lovers?).  If libs say they did a good job then I believe them, just like I believe that immunisation is a conspiracy, fluoridation is a conspiracy, climate science is a conspiracy, and ummmm... well whatever I am told"
