Title: Someting fishy here as Labor Rat gets pet rat

Sounds like one rat knows another rat.

2016 Federal Election: Rolling coverage of the campaign, Day 25
EDITOR ON DUTY: Staff writers LIVE      Updated 3 mins ago

No surprise the GG avoided shaking the hand of this shrieking sheila!!!!

DEPUTY Labor leader Tanya Plibersek got more than she bargained for during a visit to the Sydney Fish Markets this morning, leaving with a new pet rat.

A young lady dumped the rat in Ms Plibersek’s hands before leaving the venue.

Ms Plibersek agreed to take it home for her children and launched a Twitter competition to name it with the handle #nametherat.

Turns out the whole incident was a stunt from The Chaser team in the wake of a poll about which pollie you could trust to look after your pet.

Bill Shorten would only gingerly stroke the rat with one finger but his deputy seemed more enamoured as she hugged it close.

The Opposition Leader and Prime Minister are in Sydney today after attending the first State of Origin match last night.

Mr Turnbull, who backed NSW who lost 4-6, will continue with innovation as a central theme.

Maroons supporter Mr Shorten will also be announcing Labor’s policy to drive investment in renewable energy to reduce household power costs and creating jobs.

Labor wants 50 per cent of all energy to be renewable by 2030.

If Plibersek's rat suddenly leaves the Labor vessel you know it will sink soon. Sort of like a Ratometer which predicts a change.

Someting fishy here as Labor Rat gets pet rat

Lucky they didn't give the rat to the Liberals - they would all have felt threatened by another prospective leader.

Unlike Labor where the rat felt immediately at home.
