Title: stolen from feedback

Please note that FD himself suggested I post this here - I was happy to keep it between us. But sure, I'll let my views be known here...

I think the whole idea is utterly absurd and should be scrapped altogether. Especially for a board that was specifically set up in the interests of free speech. Personally I like indulging in a few expletives to emphasise my arguments, and I don't believe it detracts from the quality of my arguments. But does it even dissuade people from swearing? Of course not, everyone just finds ways of spelling it differently to avoid the filter. Besides, when you see the word 'smacking' or whatever euphemisms are used, obviously everyone knows what word it is really - thus one way or another, swearing is not avoided anyway.

So for feerks sake, lets stop this shIIt and get rid of this stupid, moronic faarking filter

just like to comment....on the fact that fd would like those who are allowed to post in feedback to comment on the swear word filter.... yep he even  puts up a poll...

when a huge majority of members cannot use the feedback board.... for reasons unknown... ::) ::)

perhaps when you are figuring out what the chosen few members want from a swear filter.....you might tell those who are banned from feedback why it is you dont wish to hear from us????.......

needless to say I have not commented on the swear filter... as I can believe my comments wont hold any interest anyway...

I would definitely try to be better if he told me what I have done.... :P :P... I dont particularly want to go in there.. but that isnt the point he has made a poll only the chosen ones can use...

and he talks democracy. ::) ::)

If the current limits in place on this site are relaxed any further, then this site will go down a similar road to FD's other site, that being PA, Which frankly leaves a lot to be desired!

However, this is FD's site, so if he wants this site to go down the same path as PA, then that's his decision.

That said, I will not entertain going any further down that path, whatsoever!

I voted 'Keep it' for that exact reason.  You give some people an inch, they will take a mile as you have seen with my 'imposter.'  I'd toughen it up to make a clear statement of zero tolerance towards going down a primrose path to the almost empty but open fetid sewer that other place is.

He probably banned me from feedback because I highlighted the
page flipping problem too many times
& he can't do anything about it.

It made him feel ineffectual.

Free speech?  I can certainly understand and agree with a few people being banned from using Feedback, they just don't know when to quit, but almost half the posting forum is banned and that is certainly NOT promoting free speech and why add a poll where only a select few can vote?  It seems the only 'free speech' allowed around here without consequence is about Muslims, persistent derisive ad hominem and trolling.

So, consequently, I don't give a damn.  Keep the swear filter or take it away, it makes no difference what any of us think.  The decision, poll or no poll, is not ours and that is not what I determine to be "a board that was specifically set up in the interests of free speech".

Half the forum either is banned from Relationships or just refuse to post there.

If your thread is moved there it is because the powers that be want it to die a fast death.

It would be like giving us the finger, yet again.

I have no idea about those who has chosen, but I do know that only one person is under a permanent ban.  AiA's current suspension expires on the 30th June, as he knows.

No, I didn't know that and am not sure why you would think I would. I can count the times on my fingers and toes I have posted in Relationships.

Jovial Monk might return here if the ban on the "C Word" was lifted as he was once its most prolific user at PA. I miss having him to kick around  ;)

Oh my, Mr. Aussie, what a big ego you have to think that everyone takes note of your pronouncements, marks that date on the calendar and organizes one's life around it!

The only one here playing games is yourself Mr. Aussie, games that only exist in that noggin' of yours, games in which everyone else remembers what is said in Relationships gives it the same importance as you do.

this poll is probably the most accurate gauge of sentiment as Feedback has restricted access as you say and those who post can and do post there are generally angry and bitter. anything put forward in Relationships is of course warped by Aussie and thus is unreliable.

so will nothing change?.....I think leave things as they are if they get out of hand thats when you need to act..

its time the members got a bit of self control...they shouldnt need a filter to control them... what a joke...

how about a filter that refuses to post their comments altogether ...a BIG CENSORED being displayed instead....
..its only one or two on here that go beyond whats acceptable...and need a nanny

Aussie males used to pepper their conversations with bloody and bugger. Nobody took any notice, it was part of our vernacular. Females never swore, except perhaps to use bum, darn or blast.

Then the f-word became part of common language ... worldwide .... I am finding that it is usually the young female that uses the f-word for emphasis ... the males use the c-word and that I can't say I approve of, I consider it rude and uncouth, whereas the f-word has, seemingly, replaced bloody and bugger to some extent in our vernacular.

Anyhow, what I am trying to say is that IF Forums try to limit a poster's ability to express themselves and if that is a b, c, or f word, they will use it and get around it, regardless of "filters".  If you leave people to express themselves without telling them what they can and cannot use as "swear words" they will become more creative ... or something and most likely NOT use swear words, unless they are frustrated ... but that is another topic.

I voted to get rid of the swear filter, allow posters to be ADULTS ... for the time being and see how people react.  I think that "reverse psychology" might exist .... SHOULD it become a problem I am sure Freediver can immediately apply the filter, once more.

My dollars worth.  ;)

The problem is that there is a handful who cannot, or would not, act as adults and flinging expletives to shoot someone down is easier than forming a controlled argument.

I don't have a 'little troop.'  If you mean Monk and AG.....they have not been there for ages, and yet the place continues to be a raw, and decaying sewer.  I don't care, I just do not want to see the same happening here, as it will, the instant standards are lowered to suit grubs.

Being two of the three worst offenders at PA, I agree.   :)

Can't help yourself, can you? You are so predictable.

YOUR Forum ... owned by you .... http://littleozzybloke.com/lobdc1/index.php is not ONLY DEAD it is buried as well and trying to move all the Members from there to Monk's twitterblog hasn't exactly made Monks a Forum that you could con people from Oz Pol to visit, less alone post at.

So. YOU FAILED.

Cease and desist telling the rest of us what a wonderful solicitor you were. You are a FAILURE.

What I have been saying (sort of) is that IF you stop people from FREE speech, they will work their way around it .... if there is NO such thing, only those who swear in real life will do it.

I think we NEED a TRIAL of no swear filter ............ then we can judge what happens. Right?

THIS IS A PUBLIC FORUM! You have FREE SPEECH.  Isn't that enough?

I could whine about lots of things, Cods, but I don't.

REMEMBER that everyone who posts here are strangers. You are most unlikely to meet any of them in the REAL WORLD.

Bullying? Get a grip on reality, Cods.   This is a FORUM. NOTHING is REAL here.  ;D

words like nice person or idiot or stooopid are not swear words to me....its RUDE but its not swearing..

I think we need to grow up and be realistic....

this poll is probably the most accurate gauge of sentiment as Feedback has restricted access as you say and those who post can and do post there are generally angry and bitter. anything put forward in Relationships is of course warped by Aussie and thus is unreliable.

Yet another AiA flop.  There is no Poll in the Thread in Relationships.

Nor did I say there was Mr. Cuntsmann. What is your point?

Ok....back ontopic.

I promise to be serious now.

Interestingly enough, the Bible has something to say about that :

Luke 6 : 45

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.

For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

I have to say that I would not like to see a blue cockroach to be representative of NSW.  Since when is this a football forum?

Sydney Harbour Bridge is the most obvious option.  Parliament House for the ACT etc.

Feedback is again being used and abused.  Either let everyone post there or extend some degree of fairness.  This is ridiculous to the extreme.

Cane toads are very much a part of QLD so that's fine but a blue cockroach?  Who but a diehard football follower would have a clue what it represented?

Re: Who will be new GMOD
Reply #33 - Jun 29th, 2016 at 11:41pm   I think in the interest of fairness we need another female GMod. I put myself forward as a credible choice, obviously I have the experience necessary as most of you know. I think Ms cods would also be excellent choice, after myself of course.  Either of us would insist on a monthly Dip n Glide night, and no getting a leg over in the bus on the way home. Wink

as I cannot respond in feedback to my admirers  I do hope Margie spreads herself around the forum and catches my thanks for this remark in feedback..

sorry if reposting offends others... but I feel rather special that Margie remembers me from the CWA forum.. where I ran a tight ship..

I do not believe a new g mod...would have the power to run fantastic.."blue light discos" like we girls had....

g mods are no fun at all margie..
