Four police officers have been killed and eight other officers injured after gunmen opened fire during a protest march in downtown Dallas.

Two snipers picked off the officers during the ‘Black Lives Matter’ march in the Texas city, CBS DFW reports.

“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally,” Dallas Police Department chief David Brown said in a statement.
July 08, 2016: Shots have been fired at a protest being held in Dallas over the shooting deaths of two African Americans by US police officers.

“Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition. An intensive search for suspects is currently underway.”

There are mixed reports about the location of the suspects, with FOX4 reporting that one of the gunmen had been shot in an exchange of gunfire with police. While a second suspect is believed to be holed up in a Dallas car park wearing a bulletproof vest.

Live footage of the rally showed protesters marching along a street when shots erupted and the crowd scattered, seeking cover.

The shooting reportedly took place just before 9pm as protesters were marching near Lamar and Main St.

It follows the deaths this week of two black men - Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota – both shot dead by police in incidents caught on video.

Thousands of protesters have taken to the street today in several US cities.

About a thousand protesters clogged New York's iconic Union Square, at one point staging a sit-in. Police arrested some of them, loading them onto city buses they borrowed for the occasion.

I think it is a direct response in the form of revenge by young black males who feel they are targeted by the police. Revenge does not have to be a one on one affair. Apparently they have arrested a few people and there are a bunch more still on the loose. News  is just in that there are bombs involved. It seems like a bit more than revenge to me. The footage of those white policemen, shooting to death those two non-threatening black men in separate cases was horrific, and really really begs the question.. where to from here.?
Those cops, well at least one of them, the shooter who killed that man in his car in front of his wife and child, sounded hysteric, terrified.... how can people like this be given so much power over life and death?????? . The word is the cop repeatedly responded to the man's insistence that he provide his firearms license....the cop didn't ask him for his license......the stupid sh!t ignored the cop, & went to his shirt anyway.....the officer told him to put his hands on the dash...the man ignored & proceed anyway.....the cop shot him dead.....justifiably .....he warned the man repeatedly.....the cop gave clear instructions.......the man sealed his own fate by ignoring the cop.

What we saw was what the girlfriend nonchalantly recorded after the shots.

Ignoring the cop will always end badly, especially while the cop is holding a loaded firearm on you telling you to stop, it will end badly.......it did, & because people don't learn or listen, it will happen again, & again, & again.....do exactly what the cop says, & don't do what he tells you not to do.....disobey.....lights out.

As long as the officer was clear with his orders, he will not be found in breach of any law....end of story.....one dead, very stupid man.

B) On a serious note, American law & institutions have evolved to promote the power and interests of whites over blacks.  This is reflected in every aspect of life -- poverty rates, likelihood of imprisonment for the same crimes, access to education and medical...you name it.  What is happening here is no different than what you observe from the Palestinians in Israel, the Chechans in Russia, the muslims in France, the Hutus in Rwanda, etc etc...When you design a society that treats a group badly, that group gets pissed and begins to fight you back.  I know I'm really pissed -- I've seen too many lives wasted by the animals who think we are nothing but animals  >:(.  We're getting fed up.  You can only kick a dog so many times before it bites you... You must admit, some of your people really need to pick up their act. I grew up poor and I never thought of selling drugs and shooting people.

Seems to me black americans are the most disadvantaged and 'sinned against' by the white society in which they were dragged, historically. What you said I have highlighted above is simply undeniable.

Hey if I were you AYank I'd have the same outlook.  Not a place anyone would really CHOOSE to be is it? When the Law officers become out of control killers you have little chance of achieving any thing that can effect change.
