Liberal MPs are showing open defiance over the government’s “bad” and “retrospective” raid on superannuation accounts after Malcolm Turnbull yesterday ruled out revising the controversial budget measures before presenting them to parliament.
Tasmanian senator Eric Abetz today said the Coalition had taken “a big kick up the pants” at the election and the Australian people would expect the government to “recalibrate” those measures that were announced in the budget without being “properly ventilated” in the party room. “The retrospectivity of the $500,000 concessional cap, things like that, I think are matters that did hurt us within our base and it’s bad policy,” Senator Abetz, a former cabinet minister, told ABC radio. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/federal-election-2016-liberal-mps-open-defiance-over-super/news-story/38a4cffb49fbd49d950fe183a74dfdab Perhaps Coalition MP Jobson Groth is concerned about his super future Interesting that two papers are now commenting on the war within the Coalition ranks on this. They cannot even get consensus on their own policies Watch this one die in the bum |

Geez, they are not even sworn in yet! Can they be held responsible in not necessarily in Government? Does Sir Peter need to wave the magic wand and sprinkle the fairy dust?

The Coalition run the country as if they are running in a three-legged race.

No: all bias aside they have form - it is a Liberal tradition for the ministers to stand by the leaders policy in the election campaign and then turn him into a liar after the election. They did the same thing to Abbott on the maternity pay deal. All his ministers were happy to stand by the policy in the election campaign as a vote catcher but as soon as they were elected it was a very different story, they shot their leader promises down in short order. |

He's a secret shoo-in for the PM spot - Tony is just a blind or decoy runner so they can sneak Jobson in on us while we focus on Tones.... At least nobody has offered to breathe life into the rotting political corpse of Hockey and return him to the Treasury... |

Here's a good laugh for you on a cold Friday morning.. Cormie defending the super changes (please supply accent for mirth enhancement) .... Ve haff ein Belchian exshplainink to uz how zer zuperannuation iss for our own gut, chust like der kas chamber...... "Cabinet minister Mathias Cormann insists superannuation tax concessions need to be addressed amid a growing backbencher revolt over the proposed changes. Several conservative backbenchers have raised concerns about the $500,000 cap on non-concessional contributions backdated to 2007, with Cory Bernardi calling for the proposal to be examined by a Senate committee. Senator Cormann defended the changes, telling Sky News on Friday that tax concessions were never designed to help people get rich. "More and more income generated in Australia was entirely outside the income tax system attracting zero per cent income tax - that is just not structurally sustainable". |

telling Sky News on Friday that tax concessions were never designed to help people get rich. What a dumb thing for him to say, it does not help people to get rich. It only benefits people who are wealthy in the first place. |
