Trump: ‘I Want to Be Myself’ — ‘It Got Me Here’

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was asked by show host Bret Baier about a perceived pivot to a “more controlled presidential candidate.”

Trump dismissed that perception and said he wanted to be himself. He also added he would “probably” use a teleprompter for his convention speech next week in Cleveland.

Partial transcript as follows:


BAIER: You’re giving speeches off the teleprompter more. Some people have noticed that your tone has changed a little bit. The Twitter kind of back and forth has slowed a little bit. Is this the turn that everybody talks about that you’re pivoting now to become this kind of more controlled presidential candidate?

TRUMP: I’ll give you a terrible answer. I don’t think so. I want to be myself. You know, it got me here. I made a speech last night, tremendous crowd, you saw it in Indiana. Tremendous crowd, the level of enthusiasm. If I ever walked into that crowd of 8,000-9,000 people and had a teleprompter in front of me and read a speech, I think I would probably lose most of them by the time I was finished. I like doing the teleprompter, it works for me on detailed speeches. Fortunately, I have the kind of memory where I can do it without teleprompters —

BAIER: Are you going to use a teleprompter at the convention?

TRUMP: A lot of people have asked me that question. They said boy, that could be a great speech, but I’m probably going to use a teleprompter.

BAIER: What is the story you’re going to tell at the convention?

TRUMP: I’m going to tell a law and order story. I am the law and order candidate. The problem with the police is one incident happens, it’s bad, and its broadcast all over the world for weeks and weeks. Hundreds of thousands of things that they do that are incredible, nobody talks about, you know? We’re going to have to talk about them. I find it very interesting, the media can distort images and can distort pictures. I’ve never seen people really fight back against the media, certainly not like I fight back against the media. This whole “never Trump” movement is nonsense.i

Here it is in a nutshell:

If you personally know anybody in the United States, ask them...did they hear any news about this pending action...accusation...about Donald Trump & child rape?

Don't be surprised at the answer....at it's worst it will be something like  "yeah....a while back, but we always hear these accusations during elections."

If they say they ignore them.....which most do....don't go all 'holier than thou' on them if you cherish their friendship.

Americans are sick to death with 'false' accusations.....they're a dime a dozen.......so, even if it's a real accusation, most probably it will get thrown out with the fake ones.

Most Americans seem to have an internal BS filter, that filters out these 'dime a dozen' reports, & they will probably say they haven't heard "anything new".

It's old hat to them......everyone makes false claims around election time.

So, while this may seem important to you personally here in Australia, to Americans....they care about the economy, illegal immigration, jobs, & terrorism.

Anything else rolls off them, like water rolls off a ducks back.

Don't believe me....visit an American Political Forum.....read the thread titles.....read the post titles (if they have them...some do, some don't).

Don't be surprised on what you don't find.

Seriously, when it gets past the fringe element, anonymous accuser, accusation stage.....& a pretrial judge clears it for grand jury consideration,  then I'll start taking note....until then.....all it is is another "he said, she said election year story".

There's no need to defend anything at this early stage.

My best guess....it won't see it's first jury clerk for 2 to 3 years....if then (knowing the little I do about the American court system.....especially if the accuser stays anonymous).

There is plenty currently around to debunk the myth of Trump, why use something from decades ago.

Since the latest Islamic Terrorist Attack (note, I will never ever use the word alleged pertaining to an act of Islamic Terrorism) today in Nice, France.....at least 84 murdered by a Muslim Jihadist Piece of ⓅⒾⒼ ⓈⒽⒾⓉ.........I would think the Border Protection Wall just got 3 feet higher, & 10 feet deeper.....while the 100% ALL MUSLIM Emigration Embargo just got 6 months longer, & best of all, a bump in the polls should follow for the Pro-American, Pro-West, Anti-Terrorist Candidate for President.......Donald Trump.
