Clinton Campaign Quietly Amends Sexual Assault Message on Website Following Renewed Allegations Against Bill Clinton
Aug. 15, 2016 3:47pm Carly Hoilman BuzzFeed recently reported that a message on the Hillary Clinton campaign’s “campus sexual assault” webpage used to read that the Democratic presidential candidate stood with victims of sexual assault. That part was apparently removed after a tweet written by Juanita Broaddrick went viral. Here are the two different versions, as noted by BuzzFeed: September 2015 to February 2016: ‘I want to send a message to every survivor of sexual assault: Don’t let anyone silence your voice. You have a right to be heard. You have the right to be believed, and we’re with you.’ February 2016 to present: ‘I want to send a message to every survivor of sexual assault: Don’t let anyone silence your voice. You have a right to be heard.’ Broaddrick, who accused former President Bill Clinton of rape in 1999, alleged again in January that he “raped” and “tried to silence” her. At the time, Bill Clinton declined to comment on the renewed allegations. In a January interview, Broaddrick accused Hillary Clinton of covering up her husband’s transgressions to ensure their family’s political success. It was shortly after this that “You have the right to be believed, and we’re with you” was removed from the sexual assault message on Clinton’s website, though the statement can still be heard in a video message from the candidate. TheBlaze reached out to the Clinton campaign for comment on the change but received no response. |
