No to all of that. Jeez, I guess you saw the front page of the Sunday Mail... Brisbane's ONLY newspaper. I get so sick of their editorialising in favour of the LNP. Sickening. The bias the Courier Mail shows means the only Newspaper I buy is the Sunday Mail, and I 'm not even sure why I do THAT. The news content is virtually NIL, and what you do get is so frikkin' slanted,
I generally read the guff, and shake my head, in utter disgust, so sad, Bad. |

There's a chance he's being sarcastic.

you think? I'd call it more cynical than sarcastic. I'm pretty sure Sprint doesn't support eco disaster at the hands of money hungry developers.

YES... And we are still doing it. :(
Not to worry Cods, none of it can be undone, so you needn't worry about having to lose whatever you think you have personally gained from it. :( Its the next generation who are the losers. :( |

I have gained much. |

What about Coal, Cods?
By far the biggest mining industry in Australia. Did you forget about Coal.? |

not at all.. but coal didnt build my home... not as far as I know.. and yes we are very beholden to coal...... you probably are not aware... it was thanks to coal your car is made of steel.... I dont have a problem with coal or mining for that matter... we have come a long way since the 1900.....and its all far more modern and clean...I find people more dirty than machines to be honest.... I also believe Mother Nature is having a laugh at us thinking we can break her.... ::) ::) but thats just me... I am grateful for everything I have....if climate is changing its because it always has changed....we ADAPT...cave men were covered ion hair.... ;D ;D ;D.. but to each his own.. I take it you are not grateful for what mining has given you?> |

Title: Re: 'Yes to Mining ................' Post by miketrees on Oct 4th, 2016 at 7:01am Mining is just servicing people. You need to look at the root cause. Stop squirting out babies. The world needs to depopulate, or put up with more degradation. Australia and every other country should set a population target at about half todays population |

You seem to forget that humans are part of the ecology of the earth. We are not removed from it. If the human psyche is producing ways, like the internet, to remove many many people from the reality of their surroundings, as you say, Cods, then it is in all seriousness a function of nature.
Mother Earth is throwing everything at us to de-populate this world, from storms, to the Internet. You see , much as we might ignore it, we are of the Earth. What we do is part of the whole ecology... and when cancers arise, the body of our mother takes every opportunity to attack it. The fact that we mainly live in giant 'hives', and that our workers and procreators are choosing to go AWOL.. is just another example of how our demise approaches. We are not superior beings who can do as we will, and when such abnormality as massive overpopulation in a particular species comes up, Mother takes whatever steps are necessary. Like drought and starvation for example. Lets face it, the Earth will be here long after WE have disappeared, regardless of our grandiose beliefs in our own invincibility. |
Title: Re: 'Yes to Mining ................' Post by miketrees on Oct 5th, 2016 at 6:57am Like drought and starvation for example. It will be a flu epidemic |

I am not a greeny I dont buy this man made climate change......so no good giving me the spiel....I believe the world has been changing for millions of years long before man appeared...and will keep on doing so.. its the PANIC merchants and those who believe it all only stated 100 years ago that need convincing... my reply to mike was to explain the affects they have found the internet to be having on human behavior.... and I believe this is more serious..than mining would ever have been... this has nothign to do with our bodies its our MINDS.... a young man murders his father because he wanted him to come to dinner rather than play internet games... can anyone imagine a son killing his father because he asked him to stop watching TV.??????.....or playing tennis........it doesnt make a lot of sense....but its happening... we argue fight threaten fall in love even have sex? via the internet.... no touch feel colour emotion.. nothing just a bloody keyboard.....if it goes down.. aka telstra we go into spasms.... its frightening. |

Yep.... we have got to start thinking about our place on this Earth. OH actually... I'll take that back. It is too late for that. Unless some genius somewhere can come up with a magic solution to the multiple problems WE have created, our civilisation will end in the most ignominious manner... ..by our own hand. By disease war and ecological mayhem, which will mean the Earth will no longer support OUR kind of life. Its happened before, and history repeats. :( |

I was on hollies recently, saw lots of graffiti saying "No mining" there was no messages to support mining, I thought of 'editing' some of the graffiti to show support for mining. Am sure it would lead to violence from leftys. Yet leftys use resources as much as anyone else. |

I It takes a lot of commitment to opt out of this current user pays user uses all society. I do the best I can, and I'm happy enough with that. But yeah I have a car, and yeah I have electricity, but I've only got 2 light bulbs on. A fridge, a TV and a computer using power at the moment, and most of the time. I have tank water supplies only, gas hot water and cooking, a water pump that only goes on when I use a tap, and a couple of acres of trees and bush and native grasses and stuff, so (I reckon I am carbon positive) yeah I feel OK .. :) I do the best I can. I don't travel very far from home, I never go out to movies or restaurants ( all klms away from home) and I certainly don't fly anywhere.. I live as best a life as I can, and I love it. :)
