One Nation dumps anti-gay 'ratbag' candidate Shan Ju Lin By Gail Burke and Kym Agius Updated 26 minutes ago Pauline Hanson and Shan Ju Lin smile PHOTO: Ms Lin (right) was running in Bundamba in the 2018 Queensland election. (Supplied) RELATED STORY: Advice for Pauline Hanson from the ghosts of One Nation's past One Nation founder Pauline Hanson is making no apologies for sacking Queensland candidate Shan Ju Lin for her anti-gay comments, saying she will not let people trash her or her party. Ms Lin was dumped on Saturday night after a number of Facebook posts, including saying that "gays should be treated as patients" and "abnormal sex behaviour leads to abnormal crime". In another post, Ms Lin mocked outgoing US President Barack Obama's LGBTI policies using a digitally manipulated picture of him in drag. Ms Hanson suspended Ms Lin, a school teacher and Harmony Day Festival committee president, on Friday night and warned her to stop the posts, but said the "disparaging comments" appeared again on Saturday night. "These are not the views shared by One Nation, nor the views of fellow candidates and the general public," Senator Hanson said in a statement. "I will not stand by and allow people to trash the party or my name, so I make no apologies for being tough on candidates." Senator Hanson said Ms Lin responded: "Once gays realise they can put pressure on a candidate, they will start to target other One Nation candidates also." Ms Lin also took to her Facebook again account to thank her supporters, adding "I certainly did not want to compromise her personal integrity and values". A spokesperson for Senator Hanson on Sunday told the ABC "the party is doing extraordinarily well and the party does not want ratbags". PHOTO: One Nation candidate Shan Ju Lin has made controversial comments about gay people on Facebook. (Facebook: Shan Ju Lin) Ms Lin had been preselected last month to run in the seat of Bundamba, west of Brisbane, in the slated 2018 state election. Since her preselection, she had already made comments which ostracised parts of the Asian community. Her disendorsement came just weeks after another candidate, Andy Semple, was forced to quit after similar inappropriate comments. Mayor threatens to withdraw funding from Ms Lin's organisation Ms Lin currently sits as Harmony Day Festival organising committee president in Ipswich. The festival promotes multiculturalism and intercultural understanding. Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale PHOTO: Mr Pisasale said Ms Lin's organisation committee gets up to $7,000 from council a year. (AAP: Dan Peled) It receives between $5,000 and $7,000 a year from the Ipswich City Council, which takes in Bundamba. Mayor Paul Pisasale said he did not want any of the council's money going to the organising committee until Ms Lin apologised. He stopped short of calling for her resignation. "That's a promise," he said. "When I saw those comments I thought how could this happen in this day and age in Australia. "She needs to apologise to the people of Australia. "Stop bending to the minority groups to try to get elected, get out there and show some leadership and skills." http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-01-08/one-nation-pauline-hanson-dumps-anti-gay-candidate-shan-ju-lin/8168388 |

Pauline is wary now as once burnt twice shy after Cullo's exploits.
Pauline is angling for the more conservative vote and so she has to appear reasonably responsible. The Asian crossed the line and was unelectable. What's the possibility of a Liberal One Nation coalition at the next election ? Twould be the stone blind end of little Shorty. |

Mrs Lin is now blaming James Ashby of Peter Slipper fame.
Hanson dumps 'homophobic' candidate Updated: 4:45 pm, Sunday, 8 January 2017 Pauline Hanson has dumped state election candidate Shan Ju Lin for posting homophobic comments online. Dumped One Nation candidate Shan Ju Lin says being dropped from the party has come as a 'complete surprise' and nominated Pauline Hanson's chief-of-staff as the reason for her disendorsement. Ms Lin is the second candidate to fall out with One Nation less than a month after it unveiled part of the team it would take to the 2018 Queensland election. The Taiwanese-born Ms Lin was dropped as the Bundamba candidate on Saturday night a day after she posted on Facebook that 'gays should be treated as patients'. A statement from Senator Hanson's office said Ms Lin was disendorsed after she continued to post 'disparaging comments' on her personal account despite a warning from a party official on Friday. 'I will not stand by and allow people to trash the party or my name, so I make no apologies for being tough on candidates,' Ms Hanson said in the statement on Sunday. Ms Lin said the decision to disendorse her candidacy had come as a 'complete surprise' as One Nation had no policy on homosexuality, other than to support a referendum on gay marriage. 'The speed of the disendorsement decision - without any chance to defend myself - has also been remarkable,' Ms Lin said. Ms Lin said she had not been able to speak directly to Ms Hanson, who could only be contacted through her chief-of-staff James Ashby. 'I would suggest that the alleged issue was far more important to Mr Ashby than the membership or executive of One Nation,' she said. Mr Ashby made headlines in 2012 when he lodged a sexual harassment suit against then-Speaker Peter Slipper that he ultimately dropped. Ms Lin said her 'wholehearted support' for Ms Hanson remained. 'I look forward to the internal issues within One Nation being finally resolved for good,' she said. - See more at:http://www.skynews.com.au/news/politics/state/2017/01/08/hanson-dumps--homophobic--candidate.html#sthash.cahmuqCT.dpuf |

Title: Re: One asian boned by One Nation Post by The Grappler on Jan 8th, 2017 at 10:58pm
Yeah - but isn't it time the gay lobby and a few others were put in their place? What is radical nowadays will be common-place tomorrow... and what was once considered 'normal' is often today considered radical....
Let her speak.... Pauline would have been better served coming out (sic) and saying:- "My party encompasses all views, and while I personally do not agree with Mr/Mz. (fill space) on this particular issue at this time, I value his/her input to discussion and will certainly be taking into consideration any valid issues she may raise in that discussion. I feel that the Australian people should be given the opportunity to determine right and wrong for themselves, and issues such as gay marriage should be put to the people. Morality I leave to those involved, as long as they do no harm to others." |

I think Pauline showed good judgement here,A candidate that makes such idiotic statements can only drag the party down.

This is a very interesting candidate. When I saw the news, the first thing I wonder was why would someone Asian would want to go for a ON candidate? Given Ms Hanson had already mentioned in the past, that we are going to be swamped by Asians, to now we are already swamped by Asians. Of course, Ms Lin's explanation is that in her mind there are just two types of 'Asians'. One is a 'good' Asian, such as someone from Taiwan, who are against the communist party. And there are 'evil' Asians, namely those from 'mainland' China - which is what Ms Hanson was referring to. I think this is incorrect, when Ms Hanson mentioned Asian, she clearly meant ALL Asians.
I think comparing to ON, she is even worse! At least ON does not discriminate against other whities. This Ms Lin lady discriminate even her own race! How pathetic can some one be! I think Ms Hanson have made the right choice. She - been an Asian, is not electable for ON anyway. |

Just a symbol of the fact that migrants from the last wave resent migrants from the next. So Asians here don’t want more Asians coming here. So joining the xenophobic ON was a natural step.

That's where she got it wrong. ON is actually anti Asian, not just chinese. You can bet, that 99% of the people who voted for ON do not like Asians, regardless of whether they are Chinese or not. I mean... isnt Taiwan, Chinese by ancestry? Whats the point of picking on her own race? |
Title: Re: One asian boned by One Nation Post by Jovial Monk on Jan 9th, 2017 at 10:47am
No, there are native Taiwanese that are not of Chinese descent. Not “recent” descent anyway. Of course, the Kuomintang moved there after being kicked out of mainland China so there are ethnic chinese there too.

No, not anti Asian. Hanson's "swamped" comment was meant as a warning to the rest of us that the population mix would could end up with a majority Asian population if immigration wasn't controlled One Nation is also well aware that descendants of gold field Chinese, for example, are Australian citizens and will treat them as such. It's the much later smart arse immigrants we must watch, one I spoke to fled China so he and his family could practice their religion, but when I asked him "What if lots of Caucasian people migrated to China"? His answer: "There's too many there now" - his exact words. He doesn't want to see his old country swamped with Caucasians apparently And don't forget that Asian Australians will be exempt from fighting on the front line in any future military conflict in Asia,if it happens. They will be kept well back to avoid friendly fire, non Asian personnel will be doing the dirty work I guessed correctly that lady was not a suitable candidate, and I wasn't surprised she got rejected, had she kept her mouth shut about those divisive issues, she would have had a good chance of remaining a candidate. Asian or not, they must use their common sense |

We can do away with the political talk. lets just get back to the basics. The reason, and the only reason that Ms Hanson said we are swamped by Asians, is to get votes from people who dislike Asians, pure and simple. Its not about been out populated in the future, its about now. The end game is the same. And the same applies to Muslim now - ON's current target. Well, the friend that you talked about, remember he fled China. So he dont get to decide the immigration policies of that country. I think China only have limited immigration - limited to business / skills I think, but there no race based clause in there. So, not sure if you are comparing the right thing. I fully agree with your final point that she is not a suitable candidate. I mean what was she thinking! Okay, if she is running for the senate, then very possible if her preference is high enough in the ON hierarchy. However, if she is going to run as a representative, she would have no chance. 90% of the voters does not vote for ON. And of the people who votes for ON, 99% believe that we are swamped by ALL Asians, so to hell they are going to vote for a Ms Lin. She is the only 1% who believe that people actually care about 'good' and 'evil' Asians. |
Title: Re: One asian boned by One Nation Post by Aussie on Jan 9th, 2017 at 1:13pm
This woman should never have been endorsed by any Party and PHON is not the first to do that. She is a crack pot.
But......I strongly suspect this disendorsement is not merely about her suitability. Someone in the Party gave her a rails run to endorsement. Later, she began to stink and the power struggle between the Old Guard of ON and the new wanker (supported by Hanson) Ashby, is born. Ashby/Hanson won. This time, they selected a fight they could, should and did, win. |
