What is it with Muslims and Dogs?

I love dogs. Most people I know love dogs. Dogs are loved Globally....

Doesn't it say somewhere in the Koran that dogs are to be used in hunting? huh?

Australia has more dogs as pets than any other animal.
Australians are the 3rd largest owners of dogs in the world apparently.

Does that make Muslims incompatible with Australian society?
Would they be better off living in an Islamic country?
