Title: Insignificant moment of the Day
Post by JaSin on May 24th, 2017 at 7:21pm
Today, I thought I should share that my insignificant moment of the day was...

Working away and have a customer pop her head in,
seeing that I wasn't 'important-looking' like the other Employees and before I could say just a pleasant 'customer friendly' "Hello" - she had already moved on (not at all interested in the 'product' that I was working on compared to the others. Yep - I knew my place in the team.  Most come in and have a look, or have a quick chat - nearly all just nod or say "Hi" at least. I just kept working as usual.

And then what happened?

They're still going which is strange. Global warming perhaps? I'm fairly close to the coast so that helps. I'd say I've got a month left. A bit longer for the cherries.  :)

The frost will get them unless your to far north for that.
I nearly washed my car today, looked like there was going to be a shower though so I wisely called it off.

I got squirted in the eye by ones acid piss one time. Nearly blinded me. We burn them with one of those long stove lighters. It's great fun. It's one of my favourite pastimes.

I once blew up a bullants nest with a pipe bomb. We filled up a piece of copper pipe with a bunch of gunpowder from firecrackers. It blew a hole about 6 inches deep in the middle and every ant on the mound was gone. The ants  littered the surrounding bush like wounded soldiers. It most have been like an atomic bomb going off for the little buggers. ;D ;D

I used to light a piece of plastic like from an ice cream container then kick a bull ants nest and napalm them with dripping plastic.

As an occasional pastime I would nestle a tin can over there nest, come out the next morning and lift the can to see hundreds smothered, no need for napalm or gun powder.

Got home from work tonight. Showered. Surfed the 'net. Got into bed to watch a tv show on dvd. Fell asleep 15 minutes into the show, and woke up 10 minutes later. I know I was dozing and can remember parts of the show as it played. Woke up a little bit more refreshed, and decided to skip back to the scene I last saw. Figured the 10 minutes I slept through were not critical to the story, after repeating the scenes. Finished the show and got up for a walk. Then I started calculating how many hours I have played computer games, particularly one of them. Then thought about the days I would spend drinking all afternoon and rocking out the night. Then all the time I would watch a movie over and over, throughout the years. These last 11 years have really been the laziest years of my life. Have I really lived?

Nope I grew up with two brothers who never got their rocks off torturing anything. I've had plenty of male friends and boyfriends who never tortured anything. I'm the mother of a compassionate son who has never hurt anything.

I would suggest there is something wrong with you.

You would have been thought a cruel bastard by your peers when I was a kid. Killing something outright with no pain was one thing, but getting pleasure from slowly mutilating and torturing a creature that is capable of feeling pain reveals a sick mind.

I'm with Rhino.

You know what they say about kids who torture and kill animals.

Just about every little boy pulls wings off flies or something similar.  If they graduate from insects to mammals it's a worry.

No. They don't.

And why is a mammal a higher form of life?

Yes, they do.
Because they are.

No. They don't.

And no, they're not.

Then you're crazy.
An elephant or a human is a higher life form than a flea.

Nope I grew up with two brothers who never got their rocks off torturing anything. I've had plenty of male friends and boyfriends who never tortured anything. I'm the mother of a compassionate son who has never hurt anything.

I would suggest there is something wrong with you.

You also think ill of people for fishing.

They might have been hiding something from for fear of your condemnation. Ask them if they know how to make a "walk" or a classroom kite.

Probably the same as a classroom kite, pull a hair out and tie it to it, pin the hair to your desk. Probably have to pull a girls hair out these days with all the metros.

Kids experiment with killing insects and it's within the scope of normal development.  If they do it too much or graduate to higher life forms it's a problem.

Liquid paper over one eye. I didn't do it myself but have seen it done. I like cicadas btw but still find it amusing when my dog eats them live and I can hear them chirping going down his neck.

I care about the wellbeing of sheep but mainly as far as they are food and there is no need to torment the poor creatures before I eat them.

First Day of School
Teacher: Now then class, tell us what you did on your holidays. Wendy, you can start.
Wendy: We went to visit Grandma.
Teacher: How sweet. Thank you Wendy. How about you, David?
David: Miss, my daddy took us to the circus.
Teacher: Very good. [turns to the evil Little Johnny who inhabits the back row of desks, and has been stretching his hand into the air Welcome Back Kotter style for so long that she can no longer ignore him] Very Well. Johnny... what did you do in the holidays?
Little Johnny: Aaaah Miss, we stuck bungers* up frogs' arses and lit them!
Teacher: Rectum, Johnny. Rectum!
Little Johnny: It sure did, Miss.

(couldn't be bothered reciting this one from memory so copy and paste.)

It's clean, the people are polite, they make great knives and even appreciate a gaijin picking them up off the road and putting them in a taxi when they are wasted from what my son says. Of all the destinations or departure points on this Planet, how in Earth did you choose Japan.....and get it right!!!!

Eddie Maguire needs you on that 'Hotseat' show of his.

Finally installed new hoses on the washing machine today.

We got a pin hole in the cold hose last Monday, the boss and the daughter have been at me since then to fix it.

There was no way I was going to do it after work, so I kept telling them I'll do it tomorrow, got to Saturday morning.

I went and bought the hoses, that was enough work for saturday.

I installed them today.................... ::)

Sprint you don’t understand my pain.

Shopping for the hoses was an exhausting 3 hour episode of my week end including a 50 minute lunch break with the boss at the shops and looking around for other things I and she wants.

The hoses are connected under the basin, changing the hoses over with some teflon tape is not but a 5 minute job, taking out all the rubbish the boss has under there (a million and one things) that is the real problem, not to mention my wide shoulder’s and laying down on the tiles to connect and disconnect.

All up it took me about 45 minutes of my weekend to leave it as I found it with a tea break in between.

That’s 3hours and 45 minutes of my weekend gone, just like that.

So I hope you can appreciate the inconvenience.... :P

hammer - I have a constructed a chart showing when 'jeez' had intended to wash the car, then conditions were poor.

Am getting some vectors together predicting when 'The Event' will happen.
It factors in tides, horse races and when my neighbour takes out his wheelie bins.

Sprint, my guess is the work will happen over at least three days.
Day 1. Wash
Day 2. Vacuum
Day 3. Polish windows and interiors.
I predict there will be rest days in between. I'll  say the 8th of June for scheduled  completion. How'd I do?

My insignificant moment for the day was looking out the kitchen window into the back yard and seeing three women talking about the two toy poodles out there with them. It seemed very serious, one had a splinter in it's toe.

The hose usually reaches to the other side.

I got petrol today, I used the pump pay thing so I didn't have to talk to the servo guy but the payment system made me have to press skip twice,  no I don't have a bugger myer card.  No I don't have a flybys card.

Nearly as bad as talking to the servo guy.

Just you wait till the advertising gets onto them. No servo person to ask would you like their 3 cokes for $10 bargain, the machine will take over and it won't GAF if you are rude to it.

Make you buy more than you were going to? Oooh, Yeah, pump me baby! And before you know it your bowser has clicked off because the tank is full. Oooh, baby, you filled me up, yeah. That will be $200, $80 for the fuel and $120 for my services.

My biggest debate for the day was to remind a service station attendant that back in the day I could fill up my car for $16. People used to whinge about $1/L petrol to fuel the car. Then, 10 years later, a 20c/L price drop in fuel saw motorists again paying $1/L. This time, motorists were happy to pay that much and how wonderful it is to have such a saving.

I remember being able to fill up my ZB Fairlane's 16 gal tank for $9. Just remind them Coke or bottled water costs more than petrol. 12c@ litre I think it was.

I did watch someone pull up to a petrol pump with its 'cakehole' on the other side of the car last week.
As I stood there, pumping away, into my cakehole.
Watching this person trying to stretch the pump around then over (hatchback) their car to reach for a successful pump. Then restart the car and move it closer, but to no avail after some stuttering movements.
I had finished pumping and then watch them drive out of the servo, onto the road then back into the servo upon a corrected side of a pump.

The attendant laughed when I walked in to pay (never buy anything else from those rip-off places) and said that the pump wouldn't reach because the person didn't notice that it was hooked behind one of the other pumps that were hooked up.

He asked me if I would like to buy anything else. They had discount coffee cups with a buy 2 chewy packs.
I said "No"
...I guess they never notice that their Petrol is a rip-off as well.

I just washed black beauty, she was a bit dusty, only people with black cars will appreciate what I'm talking about, its one of the hardest colors to keep clean.

I'm going to take her for a spin  with the boss down the beach, might stop of for a chocolate gelati and then walk it of on the pier.

Then I'm, going to come back and watch the pies kick some docker arse while the boss russells up some grub.

It's a beautiful day in Melbourne.

Paid $300 for a new seatbelt. Paid a year's Rego (Greenslip) and as I pulled out of the RMS
...my ute began to rattle and cut out.
I decided to hobble-it the 1km back to work with hazard lights around 4 round-abouts (engine would cut out) - but hazard lights off while I did this, so as to not confuse the 'busy' traffic.
Boss was talking to customers as I limped it in and I asked to borrow a car.
With 635,000kms on it, I may have bung a valve and hopefully not a piston.

I'm not phased though. I'm used to this (bad luck) and its just a walk in the park for me these days.  ;)

I find Posh-Pooch Owners don't allow their dogs any social stimulation by way of letting them 'sniff' other scents.

I let my dogs sniff all they want and I follow their lead (all three!) and time.

Posh-Pooch Owners just walk their dog from A to B and that's it.

please dont buy her a flannelette nightie...unless you want time in the dog house.

She goes to bed way earlier than I do.

I do sometimes jump in and warm the bed for her if there is time, like she tells me she is going to bed before she goes to the bathroom and does her teeth and stuff. If I know, I'll jump in and warm her side up for her. I'm not overly temp sensitive so it's the least I can do. She feels the cold.

Me too. I'm old.

I bought the wife an electric blanket. First one she's had since she was a kid.

Sat at a bus stop today.
Near 50 and I'm catching a bus like I was back at school.
I sat there and some youngsters and 20-somethings soon appeared.
I felt awkward.
They gave the 'snicker' look in my direction and started to laugh.

So I held my bag tightly to my chest and just started to mutter "Allah is great"

I had a whole bus to myself for most of the bus trip.  :)

Trepanning to let the demons out?

No.

Bustin' through the outer shell of the bone was an interesting experience, followed by several slurping vacuum-sucking sessions of the actual bone marrow itself.

Enjoy!

Not a problem.

The young Indian female doctor was brilliant. Talked me through the whole procedure with great professionalism and sensitivity.

Got off the table and caught a bus home. That easy. They gave me the option to suck on a hose with gas in it but I couldn't be bothered.

Did you ever hear of a little Chinese doctor up Newcastle way who used to show off to his uni students by jumping up on the operating table and chainsawing the sternum of patients before heart operations? Had quite a popular little gig going according to the nursing sister who told me this story. Would jump up there like a rock guitarist to the roar of the crowd.

No. Sounds cool though!  But he does remind me a bit of a Chinese dentist who had to jump upon me astrid-like to gain some sort of momentum to pull my wisdom teeth out. For the price she charged, I wouldn't have expected anything less of an effort.

Korrect.

In a sound-proofed room where you look around you as a patient and wonder where the hell is all this machinery that's supposed to be making this racket during your scheduled bone-drilling operation ..... and then the doctor enters the room ....

.... and you start screaming even before he crosses over to the table you're lying on ......

She is kinda attractive and really nice.
But I just was nice back and took the pizza.
I think she likes me but is 20 something and doesn't understand that I'm nearly 50 and don't really have the balls to go down that path, let alone have the life to accommodate it.

I think I'll just ring Mrs Palmer tonight and stay out of trouble.  ;)

Thank you.

The pain wasn't nearly as bad as its reputation. I've had more than one kidney stone drama, and worst of all pains I once had a few hours attack of neuralgia in my left cheek years ago, and then there was the time I had gout in my big toe (ie crystals grinding against the nerve-endings) ... and so these little needle-pricks were very small potatoes indeed by comparison.

I'm flattered at times, but just not interested - I have a daughter to dote upon, I don't need another.

Before I was married I remember having a conversation about women with bloke in his early 50s.

I was bragging, telling him I was at the best possible age to be a single man because I could realistically and successfully hit on women aged 18-50.
In your very early 20s women just a few years older than look too old and into your mid 30s you've got next to no chance with the 18s.

Anyhoo, he told me in succinct detail of the ages at when a man smiles at a cute 18 yo walking down the street, the reaction changes from a full smile being returned to a quick smile returned then pretending to look somewhere else, to looking away and to finally you being and obstetrical or an embuggerance she has to navigate around.

He said at 50, men are merely an embuggerance, unless of course there is plenty of cash or opportunity to throw into the mix.

I found 3 rolls of buffalo turf in the middle of the road driving back from the school run.

My daughter and her friend laughed at me for stopping and chucking them in the back of the car.

insignificant side note:  Americans call Buffalo Turf "St.Augustine grass" and what they call "Buffalo grass/turf" is a grass that actually supported herds of buffalo, unlike the Australian "Buffalo turf" which couldn't feed them even for a day ...

It's really sad to know that you won't be able to sway back and forth upon the sea anymore. But I'm sure you can break out a bottle of rum and stagger around just like old times again.  ;)

Grappler was breaking out bottles of rum and staggering around before he imagined he had a boat. Maybe that's why he had to create an imaginary boat to imagine sea legs as the cause for staggering.

My previous Employer rang to see if I will come back.
This past month, I've been looking around for another job.
Sick of my current one. How dare he make me Full-Time to save him more money!
My previous job was far better and more money, if not harder though.
I feel a sense of 'inner calm' wash over me at the idea that next Monday I can hand in my resignation.
Job #34 here I come!!!  :)

Tomorrow is the last day of my job, before I move on to another that pays double.
Its always a good feeling - 'the last day'.
Not because its all about happy or sad goodbyes.
But because I just don't have to turn up there again - thank Christ!
