But I still believe that we should scientifically eliminate the problem at its roots.

When a terrorist is killed, find his family (through DNA if nothing else) and put them to death.

Sow, Pig and piglets all.
Don't stop at the immediate family either, the mosque should be razed and the imran hung, drawn and quartered.
Then fed to the pigs.

Remove the terrorist gene by wiping out the bad gene pool.
