Title: Wedge tailed eagles killed by poison Post by Baronvonrort on Jun 8th, 2018 at 11:35am
Sad news, I wonder if recent government 1080 baiting program was responsible for this.
Guidelines for 1080 say carcasses poisoned by 1080 should be buried or burnt because they are toxic to animals that eat them. Quote:

100, on 1 property??????
I dunno 'bout dat, I have never seen wedges flocking like seagulls, one or two in their area is what I always observed living in rural western victoria. I am not pro baiting, I'd rather see a bounty per head for vermine, and let shooters have at 'em. Shooters love to blow stuff away, and we get rid of pests, win, win. Cats would be the first to go under king mozza's rule. |

I had a mind to say the same thing ....... they are very territorial ..... and I've never seen anymore than a pair & sometimes their immature young in any area. So when I read 100 on one property I was tempted to call BS. |

No this looks like it was deliberate poisoning by a farmer who had th mistaken belief that wedge tailed eagles kill new born lambs (they don't). Quote:

Sounds like a plan. As long as you remember to tax the rat farms. (A Discworld reference.) |

I've seen wegies in large numbers eating road kill on the Nullabor. They're so slow to get airborne, unfortunately many of them get turned into roadkill too. |

doubtful it could be 100. i see couples together but they are pretty solitary birds. i have never ever in my life seen a flock of wedge tails.
i think thats an exaggeration |
