Title: AFP and Dutton
Post by Aussie on Oct 11th, 2018 at 11:38am
This is amazing.  The AFP raids the Department to see if they can locate a leaker.  Why are they spending their time looking for a leaker instead of looking for misdeed by Dutton in allowing these au pairs in?

Link.

Managed to read this much:

"AUSTRALIAN Federal Police have this morning raided the Department of Home Affairs over damaging leaks involving Peter Dutton’s intervention into via approval of two foreign au pairs."

We will decide which au pairs come to this country and the circumstances in which they come.

THE AFP has this morning raided the Department of Home Affairs over damaging leaks involving Peter Dutton’s intervention into the approval of two foreign au pairs.

The Herald Sun understands the raids were undertaken at the Department of Home Affairs building in Canberra this morning.

It is understood AFP officers entered the building at about 10.45am and presented a warrant to begin searching the workspace and personal devices.

The raids come after the Herald Sun last month revealed a string of correspondence that AFL boss Gillon McLachlan had sought assistance from then immigration minister Mr Dutton on behalf of a French au pair who was set to stay with Mr McLachlan’s relatives.

Mr McLachlan was later called to give evidence to a senate committee considering the Home Affairs Minister’s intervention to stop two foreign au pairs being deported from Australia in 2015.

Leaks of the information relating to the cases of the French and Italian women were referred to the Australian Federal Police.

Mr Dutton said at the time it was clear the leaks had been orchestrated to damage him.

Home Affairs secretary Michael Pezzullo said emails and other records about the two au pair cases had been inappropriately leaked and the referrals to the AFP were standard practice.

A spokeswoman for the department said it could not comment and it was a matter for the AFP.

The AFP has been contacted for comment.

AFP raids home affairs department over Peter Dutton au pair visa leaks

Dramatic move follows a series of revelations concerning the granting of visas to au pairs by the minister

The Australian federal police are conducting a search at the Department of Home Affairs headquarters in Canberra over leaks concerning Peter Dutton’s ministerial intervention in the case of two foreign au pairs.

Guardian Australia understands officers are searching personal devices and a workspace in relation to the possible leaks.

One AFP vehicle could be seen parked outside the building at midday on Thursday.

The AFP has confirmed it received a referral from the Department of Home Affairs on 30 August 2018 regarding an unauthorised disclosure of information.

“The matter has been accepted for investigation,” the spokesman said.

“The AFP has undertaken enquiries and conducted a number of activities in relation to this investigation.”

The spokesman said as the investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further.

A source told the Guardian: “My assessment is that the department did an internal IT audit and found some information … the AFP is executing a cooperative warrant to get the evidence to continue its investigation and prosecution.”

Dutton last month narrowly avoided a no-confidence motion in parliament after a opposition-majority Senate inquiry found that he misled parliament about the saga.

Guardian Australia revealed in August that the minister granted visas to a French au pair connected to the relatives of the AFL chief executive, Gillon McLachlan, and an Italian au pair working for a former Queensland police colleague.

A home affairs department spokesman said all inquiries should be directed to the AFP.

Wee Johnnie must have studied Herrman Goering for that one - Herrman, when confronted over the issue of having a Jewish butler, replied - "I will decide who is and who is not a Jew here!"

go back a few months juliar was a strident supporter of Mal.  Then again, go back a few years, juliar was a faithful of Abbott.  Once they got discarded by the party, juliar turns on them.

Typical lib values?

In all fairness no Government would tolerate leaks against a Minister aimed solely to damage his reputation and standing....This highlights why we need a Federal CCC (Crime Corruption Commission) to keep these bastards honest???

You have to feel sorry for the forlorn hopes of the Lefties. Wonder would they like Sympathy Cards ?

Dutto is the 2nd most powerful man in Australia. And any leak is a major breach of Security.

Dutto and ScoMo and Abbo are the HEROIC FIGURES who STOPPED LABOR's BOATS.

This is just corruption at its finest. Dutton gets to roughshod right over immigration laws whilst the 'whistle blower' gets investigated by the police.

Whistle blowers need to be protected by law. And Dutton needs to be hanged for his crimes.
