Quote:
A central Queensland man has died and 10 people including seven children who were caught up in the state’s bushfires have had to be airlifted to safety, as authorities urged residents in the path of the Deepwater bushfire to leave the area immediately.

The man died after being hit by a falling tree while clearing a firebreak on his family’s property south of Emerald.

Incredible respect for the fire brigade. They are getting free meals and beers around the region as a small token of gratitude.

My son inlaw who is a copper in Bundaberg was sent into
the Baffle Creek, Miara, Deepwater & Winfield areas last week.

My daughter rang all upset about the potential dangers he may face all because residents were refusing to leave even after the situation had been declared "catastrophic" ... they were actually running & hiding from Police & Emergency services personnel.

Then there were the other feral scumbags hanging back & looting evacuated properties ....

those bastids could burn for mine.

The Land of Fires & Flooding Rain ring any bells?

Climate change my eye. ::)

Have a look at what this landholder has to say about Govt. Dept apathy regarding how bad these fires were & that it could have been prevented.

We had a sample of a near cyclonic conditions last night/yesterday afternoon. I was called in to work to help out with the deluge of orders. It rained lightly during the night. I hear that we are likely to get a deluge of rainfall from the cyclone moving towards the coast. Very windy outside now.
