Title: Immigrants are carrying Australia on their backs
Post by Laugh till you cry on Apr 18th, 2019 at 9:38am
The Australian economy would be a smoking ruin if it wasn't for immigrants spending their money and doing work Australians are not capable of.

Suck it up darlings. The government has confessed Aussies don't cut the mustard and the Australian economy would be a smoking ruin without immigration.

The government found that "reducing immigration would cost the national budget billions of dollars and reduce job growth."

MELBOURNE, Australia — Some members of Australia’s governing Liberal Party want voters to believe immigrants are bad for the economy, draining resources and causing wages to stagnate. But a newly published report, written by the same conservative government, reveals the opposite — immigration is a critical engine of the country’s growth.

The report, first published on Tuesday by Fairfax Media after journalists submitted multiple Freedom of Information requests, concluded that reducing immigration would cost the national budget billions of dollars and reduce job growth.

One of every two Australians is an immigrant, or the child of an immigrant. About a quarter of Australia’s population is foreign born, roughly twice the rate of the United States.

But immigration is a hotly contested issue, especially as Australia’s cities have been growing rapidly without the infrastructure to match, and the far-right contingent of the Liberal Party has been pushing to reduce immigration levels by tens of thousands of immigrants per year.

It’s a cause championed by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Peter Dutton, the immigration minister, who has said he hopes to become prime minister. And while Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has generally resisted, his poll numbers are weak and his government is now being accused of pandering to the anti-immigration mood of his party’s fringes in a populist appeal to his conservative base.

Here are the four key takeaways from the report.

Immigrants contribute more than they consume
Immigrants help increase the country’s overall gross domestic product, but they also are responsible for increasing the per capita G.D.P.

That is to say, immigrants have a net positive impact on the Australian economy because they typically contribute more in tax revenue than the amount they consume in government services.

Younger migrants mean younger workers
Seventy percent of migrants to Australia are skilled and of working age, a crucial antidote to the country’s aging population.

“By slowing the aging of the population, migration allows the economy and society time to adjust,” the report said.

Moreover, the document explains, higher levels of migration are also associated with less spending per person on social services like health care and education.

Immigrants do not depress wages
Mr. Abbott said early this year that limiting immigration was necessary because of the country’s “stagnant wages.”

The report, however, found that neither wages nor the unemployment rate was affected by migration.

“This is likely explained by the fact that migrants are generally seen as complements to the Australian-born labor force,” the document said.

Migrants helped Australia avoid the 2008 financial crisis
Australia has had 26 consecutive years of economic growth, and avoided the financial crisis that rattled so many of the world’s economies in 2008.

“There is considerable evidence pointing to the role of migrants in sustaining or fostering strong economic growth over the longer term,” the report said.

“This suggests that migration helped the economy successfully weather the Global Financial Crisis and the slow global growth and poor economic conditions that followed.”

**groks on image of a long line of immigrants fed by food produced by Australians carrying Australians to their destination of choice built by those Australians along the roads built by those Australians and stopping at rest stops built by those Australians....**

Sure, sure - they all come here to carry the nation... out of the goodness of their hearts.... they saw a nation in decline and in desperate straits, and moved instantly to heal it of its internal diseases of non-work and such....

By Laughter In The Dark's thinking, the Abos were carried on the backs of the immigrants.... how could that be for a proud and independent race dedicated to doing things their way?  Each successive boatload carried those who arrived before....

Funny - I recall that my ancestors who arrived here built business chains and such .. and then it was gradually diluted ....

You missed the obvious issues of inflation = diminishing value of money due to excessive spending, of inherent cost of living rises due to excessive populations, and the reality that these immigrants in the main do not do work that Australians are not capable of...

Give me a list of the last..... Chinese takeaway chef?  Indian curry muncher?  Zealous Mullah (Infidels need not apply)?  Sudanese Street Guard?  Muslim Lifesaver at Cronulla?  Islamist Woman Controller?  Quran Interpreter?  Hindu turban maker?  Apprentice Terrorist?

Very few here - most are from Ireland, Scotland and Europe.. not many English in reality... it seems, my good fellow, it is you who constantly dream a myth of England ....

How would our dissident blacks go demanding Invasion Day in Iraq or Iran?  Saudi Arabia... hey, Faisal, give us what we want or we'll burn the joint down!!

Central Africa or West Africa - hey, Mboongbo.. give us what we want or we'll burn the nation down!

Instant execution and massacre of tribal group.........

What about a group of Christians parading with signs in Teheran saying 'Behead Those Who Offend Jesus!!"

All of Grappler is dumb. Only 33% of the population can call themselves Australian by birth. The rest are all immigrants.

The percentage of English born is higher than the percentage of Australian born. English, Irish and Scottish together is 46%.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australians

European ancestries / 2016 census
Origins[a]      % of total population
English      36.1%
Irish      11.0%
Scottish      9.3%
Italian      4.6%
German      4.5%
Greek      1.8%
Dutch      1.6%
Australian[27]      33.5%

I'm merely stamping the ground and uttering slogans - not advocating anything.... it's more pointing out the utter stupidity of such things, including handing Australia back to the Aboriginals... you need to develop subtlety in your thinking, my son...

You do not see the inherent sarcasm here:?

Asia for the Asians!  Arabia for The Arabians!  Africa for The Africans!  AUSTRALIA FOR EVERYBODY!!

How could that gel in any way with 'my' 'logical conclusion' of handing Australia back to the Booris?

Immigration and the East Coast housing market have kept Australia out of recession for the last 10 years, as every schoolboy knows.

That steady 1 - 2% economic growth is driven by the increased demand brought in by tourists, foreign students, and yes, immigrants.

The only thing they're doing on their back is breeding.

Immigration from Muslim countries will only ever be a drain on economies... like ours.

Especially when there are numpties like you suggesting Australia should take 700,000 Rohingya Muslims.

The Aboriginals had an "economy" that didn't require immigration, they were hunters and gatherers and as long as they didn't obliterate the bush and fauna, they had all the necessities they needed. The size of their population depended on the abundance or scarcity of fresh water and nutritious plants and animals that were safe for human consumption, on their stretch of tribal land

This basic "economy" and way of life was sustainable for many thousands of years and would have been sustainable for the Aboriginal people for thousands of years into the future had "Whitie" stayed out and not interfered

Our present day economy relies heavily on mining minerals, agriculture (and clearing land to do so), polluting the atmosphere, immigration (to do extra mining, extra agriculture and extra polluting) mostly at the behest of foreign entities, institutions and corporations, mostly for political ends or for profit making

This economy is ruinous to the land and environment and relies on something called money, which for some reason always seems to be in short supply. Not to mention the constant bickering as to how things should be done

Take your pick which way you think would be the most sustainable for Australia for the next let's say, three thousand years.

Everything you said is true. But you must remember aborigines had a high infant mortality rate and a short life expectancy. If you have kids Bias a few of them would have died. There was no old age in pre- white Australia either. The way we live has no future but we live bloody well at this time.

That steady 1 - 2% economic growth is driven by the increased demand brought in by tourists, foreign students, and yes, immigrants.

Harris Park is 25km from the east coast, just sayn.

Doesn't say that those migrants have to me thirdy worldy tinted goatherds, re-skilled to round up trolleys and the like, does it?

No.

Oh look, here's our token immigrant.

Thanks for coming, old boy. Thank you for making our jolly country your good home. You bring your cultural traditions - your fine food, your traditional dress and your Mormor's stool samples.

In return, we let you take our Centrelink benefits, drive on our roads, and fill up our apartment complexes with your piss and sht. Then, when you're done, you can go on life-support and fill up one of our hospital beds.

You see? A win-win.

Thanks for coming, dear chap. Thank you.

All well and good as it was - with increasing population - given that Aboriginal population was regulated severely by infant mortality in the double figures and early death and relative lack of competition between small nomadic groups for resources..... it was sustainable ONLY with all of those conditions remaining intact.

Should we now withdraw access to  health, freedom from preventable illness, nutrition, social mobility and opportunity to prosper way beyond their nomadic tribal group, and all the other benefits of modern society so as to cement in place Aboriginal culture and economic system?

Same applies to Muslims from the ME, Indians and the like, BTW... breed like flies over there because many children die for many reasons as do many adults... bring them here and they breed like flies.......without any natural regulators on breeding like flies....

Soon the world including Lifeboat Australia is overcome by sheer numbers of fly breeders.... better to leave them in their hovels and allow nature to take its course.... none of them has found the cure for cancer yet.... only the road to gold in the West while the West declines......

Lock the Gates NOW!
