GetUp commander Paul Oosting is so hopeless and wayward that even the ABC’s Jon Faine can’t resist slapping him around: GetUp has been forced to amend its instructions to volunteers after the activist group's boss was caught in an embarrassing interview in which he was unable to justify claims Treasurer Josh Frydenberg was "part of the coup" against Malcolm Turnbull. National director Paul Oosting had defended a GetUp instruction manual that suggested volunteers tell voters Mr Frydenberg was "part of the coup that removed Malcolm Turnbull as Prime Minister", even if he might be "a nice person". GetUp – which has amassed a donations war chest of $12.5 million in the past year – has now scrapped references to the coup from the manual, instead saying Mr Frydenberg was "part of the chaos in Canberra" … In an awkward encounter with Faine on Wednesday, Mr Oosting said there was "undoubtedly a coup that [Mr Frydenberg] was part of within the Liberal Party". Faine argued that by that logic, every Liberal MP would have been part of the push against Mr Turnbull, which would be unfair given that almost 50 per cent voted against it. Things quickly became even more embarrassing for Oosting, who in addition to not knowing anything of Frydenberg’s immediate past was also unaware of the Treasurer’s current title: He was twice corrected by ABC host Jon Faine as to Mr Frydenberg's current role. Mr Oosting said he did not believe that Mr Frydenberg became "the deputy prime minister by accident", at which point Faine pointed out that he is not the deputy prime minister. "Apologies, he's the finance minister," Mr Oosting replied. "Treasurer," Faine corrected. "I'll get there eventually," Mr Oosting said. And now we know why GetUp prefers lurking in the background. A spotlight is not flattering. hilarious! perhaps he even uses the same 'acting' coach shortarse uses.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |

You mean they are not permitted to gather donations? $12.5m is chicken feed... look at Labor and the LNP..

So, are you opposed to all the lobby groups who support the Liberal Party? The Business Council of Australia, for example. The Australian Industry Group. Do you object to these organisations' links with the Liberal Party? |

So any other organisation apart from a party is not entitled to collect funds? Does that also apply to the sweethearts of right and left, such as the gay lobbies, the feminist groups, the business organisations, the industry groups, the lawyers, doctors and real estate agents and so forth ... in short, every self and special interest group in the land? Or do they have to pass some ideologically acceptable test to get a gig in collecting funds and putting them towards their aims? For a self-ordained liberal person, cods, you are remarkable in pointing the way towards a totalitarian state... The naivety truly is strong in this one .... What about the unelected caucuses of both Labor and LNP, cods... what about your 'national president' Greiner copping yet another nice little earner for betraying the Liberal Party as he did in NSW and rendering it more of a right wing totalitarian instrument run by cronyism and theft from the public pocket? What about all those unelected honkies who actually make the decisions for all these parties, up to and including who will stand for election in certain seats? Are THEY to be banned from gathering funds? |

seriously are you in one of your moods grap.. its what happens to that money... grap its where is spent and the damage as you can see by the lies in the printed manual that so called volunteers are spruiking....in specially selected areas..... what if extreme righties did the same thing in labor held seats....used lies and money from invisible parties to get someone of their choosing elected????? it isnt right....you obviously think its ok....good for you! stop twisting what I am saying to fit in with your weird way of looking at things..... this isnt about THE COLLECTION.... anyway dont bother with this grap its too hard for you I get that....you give me a headache.. |

The right does do it, and it's not invisible money. Here, see for yourself: https://www.getup.org.au/about/powering-getup?target=donations-disclosure#accordion-module-content-31719 |

Ah, I see - so it's no longer about the RIGHT to collect funds to support your aims - it's about how you use those funds.. and by extension, whether that use is appropriate in the eyes of the beholder - in this case, you.... Rule by personal view... i.e. I disagree with that group so anything they do is wrong, but anything the groups I like do is right.... OK... See what I mean about your advocating a totalitarian state? |

What about this, cods: 'Retiree group' lobbying against Labor unmasked as Liberal Party and trucking industry operation Are you opposed to that group too? |

I assume you're outraged by this, cods. "A lobby group masquerading as a grassroots organisation of disgruntled retirees is actually a network of professional lobbyists involved in the trucking industry and the Liberal Party, with a history of campaigning against Labor government policies." |
