"Footage has emerged of an Extinction Rebellion camp using a diesel generator for power. The large machine was covered by wooden pallets in an attempt to hide it despite the loud whirring noise. Former SAS Regimental Sergeant Major, James Deegan MC, retweeted the video to his Twitter page, calling the climate activists “hypocrites”.

His caption read: “Hypocrites absolute Hypocrites.

“Extinction Rebellion camp in London using a diesel generator for power.

“Did they think the pallets made it invisible and soundproof?”

While new generation diesels emit lower levels of carbon dioxide than petrol engines, they tend to emit higher levels of nitrogen oxides.

Stuart Basden, one of XR’s co-founders, freely admits that “XR isn’t about the climate”. He denounces concepts such as “heteronormativity”, “class hierarchy” and “patriarchy”. And yet you wear a “Tell the Truth” badge and maintain “it is this ordinariness that is perhaps the most compelling aspect of Extinction Rebellion.” This movement is about as ordinary and mainstream as a verdant Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.
